been there it suxs . I hate these dang hydrometers i have 3 in there reading 3 different temps ughhh. I am going to the store and getting a regular baby thermometer and see. I still have no pips so I dont know. I cant remember if i stuck eggs in on Aprill 19 or 20 LOL So we shall see how it goes. Last hatch i had 2 real late hatchers at day 23 and 24 from my hen that got up off the eggs i figure she layed them later then the rest. I candled a few when i had to turn my others they were moving so now that i dont have to turn the others i will let it be and see what happens.

Good luck all

Congratulations Mrs. Feathers! What's your secret?

No secret just lots of luck...and a little positive balance to offset my previous hatch which was a disaster (humidty problems, then an egg I kept in blew when we were in lockdown spewing stinky bacteria everywhere, and it goes on).

I had several hatches many years ago but had not hatched for at least 10 years. The lousy last hatch I think I did not takes as much care as I should in monitoring humidity and put too much trust that the bator would run things okay. This time hubby joined in and it was really nice to have someone at home to go through the process with. The most important part was that I had lots of good advice and support from kind and experienced BYC people.

There are so many factors in getting these little sweeties safely to and through a hatch. I think that we were very fortunate that all the stars lined up for us this time.

Sara - sorry to hear about your eggies.

I too, did not have a great hatch. I had 19 in at lockdown, hatch day was Friday. I had one hatch Sat. evening and another this afternoon. Pretty sure we are done, but will leave them in tomorrow just in case. So I have two lonely little ones!!!

I had another set of eggs that are exactly a week behind, but only think 2 of them are still viable, although I left 4 in. Will check again at lockdown on tuesday.

Good news is, I put another batch in last Thursday, 29 eggs, assorted lavender ameraucana (Bantam & LF), lav orp eggs and BBS orp eggs, and they were NOT shipped eggs! I drove 3 hours ONE WAY!!! To get these babies!!! Hoping it is a much better hatch!!!

Well we were not done! Last night, #3 zipped, and just hatched! And while watching it hatch, I noticed a pip in #4!!! I find it so hard to believe because this is day #24!!!! But I'm thrilled!!! Please pray egg #4 makes it! The other 3 are marans, this is one of our cochin eggs, and would really love to have one of them make it!!!!!
