Congrats Tamma!!! Pictures!
Congrats Deanna! That's a lot of luck with turkeys! I am going to be hatching some of those beside my peacock eggs- I hope I am as lucky! They will be Bourbon red-royal palm mixes.
Welcome Aschen!! Most bantam breeds take 19 days instead of 21, but we'd have you along no matter when you set!
Rene, good luck stabilizing! I just had a fight with my old hovabator after not using it for a year, and I eventually gave up. It decided the heating element was either on (meaning inside it was 120+ degrees!) or off (meaning it was room temp).
I finally decided to just buy a new incubator. Unfortunately the
TSC near me only sells LG bators... not my preferred hovabator. So I ended up buying one anyway, thinking "Well it's the same size as my other one, I can just use that turner instead of spending $45 on another turner." When I got home- WRONG! My hovabator turner is like a quarter inch too big
I was upset because I hadn't realized the bottom of the LG was so *shallow*- my hovabator bottom is a goof 4 inches deep at least, and this stupid LG is maybe an inch and a half. So after some frustrated contemplation (by which I mean staring at this incubator, frowning), I began to wonder if the bottom of my Hovabator would fit snugly *enough* against the LG top. So I grabbed the bottom of the hovabator, set it under the LG top- it isn't the best fit, but it'll hold 99.5 if I set it carefully, and was holding 50% humidity.
So now I have a tall top and a tall bottom- PERFECT for hatching my turkeys and peachicks! Whew!
So, since the eggs had been sitting since Saturday, I added the button quail eggs this morning. In 18 days I will hopefully have little squirts running around to give to my friend and the rest of my attention can turn to the eggs I get to keep. Commence waiting!!
