So far 1 out of the 5 eggs have hatched. I have 3 more that have pipped and are peeping. And 1 that I candled real quick and it's still moving so we will see....
YAY!!!!!! Congrats!

In my opinion you can rarely ever handle/play with them too much! As long as they are not getting hungry/thirsty or cold, then handle away with them! I play with mine as much as possible when they hatch, spend as much time as I can with them (but the peafowl and quail are way more flighty than chickens, so I like giving them as much of an imprint as possible)
Thanks!

13 Silkie eggs...some shipped and some from a local breeder, 14 Polish Crested..from my chickens, 5 buckeyes from a breeder, and 2 Buff Brahmas! So excited this is the first hatch that I actually know what they are!
Polish crested anything like a polish frizzle? Noticed you are in Sequim - I can't wait to go to the lavender festival next month. I'm near Tacoma.

So I know I swore no chicks this year after, the abundance of chicks I had last year.... I was totally fine with that. My hens decided to be sneaky on me and a few laid eggs in a good hiding spot. upon finding these eggs and not having not knowing for sure how long they had been out. (My egg count had gone down about a week and a half prior, I just figure it was the heat)

I figured oh what the heck I will put them in the incubator and see what comes of it. I'm sitting hear doing my homework for my online courses deep in thought, low and behold what do I hear. Peep, Peep, Peep.... I honestly thought I had a few more days till lock down from my calculations. (I put them in on the 11th) So I had to hurry and make some adjustments to the incubator because they were in the turner. The chick is peeping away like crazy so hopeful it will be here soon :) as much as I didn't want to hatch out chicks this year, I can't help but get excited hearing them getting all geared up to come into the world. lol so much for getting any homework done. i keep running over to my incubator every time I hear peeping trying to catch some action lol

Hey how is everyone else doing ? I have been non-stop busy with baling hay here in Ohio. Wish I had more time to get on the computer.

I put 35 out of the orig 48 in lockdown this morning at 8. All have good aircells except one that seems a little small. Finger crossed. Best of luck to everyone on your hatches.
