Can I join? Set my eggs under a broody on the 24th been checking up on her constantly!!! She's probably sick of seeing me! It's my first time hatching (and hers!) Iv got 3 polish, 3 sumatras and 2 silkies (already lost one that she accidently crushed) fingers crossed. When can you start candling? And is it definatly necessary, as she is a very aggressive broody and I even get my hand almost peaked off trying to feed her! So I don't want to necessarily go under her. Has anyone else got experience with broody hens?

she knows everything to do, i always leave my broody hens alone

Well hello again! I just set 15 more eggs (6/28/2012 10:00 pm). I am planning on going to a poultry show on 7/21/2012 so I thought I would do one more hatch. I have australorp, barred rocks, and brahma eggs (mixed with my rooster varieties) Good luck all!

I have a roo so I am hatching hens for him. I should be able to sell olive eggers and BCM next year. Same with my Serama Bantams. I am going to show my Serama because I have show quality ones that I bout from a very good breeder.

Thanks for letting me know. I joined the other group too Having hatching buddies is fun! My kids certainly don't care much about what I am doing, and those friends who are somewhat interested are seeming a bit glossy eyed when I talk about chickens now lol ding

Hatch day today for the guinea eggs. one out last night, 2 this morning. No more pips yet! Hope this isn't going to be my standard 3 chicks a batch syndrome?? Be patient I am telling myself! There is still plenty of time?
