Are we suppose to open the bator to hear if they are pipping? I can not hear or see anything in my bator. It is the big Redwood cabinet bator, with a very loud fan. It does have a small window, but I have to hold a flash light to it and try to see that way.

Or should I just sit on my hands until tomorrow?

stargazerlabs plz always candled eggs before going into the lockdown. Candling help you to find the life inside egg.. As far as my experience even if you cannot see any movements in the egg during candling at day 18 before lockdown,, with the help of air sac color size and veins you can find life inside.. And if there s any life .. please be patience and wait for the good thing to happen

Hi, I did candle on day 18 and they were moving and all 12 were doing great.

My question: how do people hear the pips. Today is day 21. I guess I will just wait another day or so.

I have no movement that I can see either and I have been glued to the bator

along with the kids... Thank you

You cannot hear pip.. A Pip mark is a small dent in the egg that the baby makes with its egg tooth (a small hook on the beak which wears off soon after hatching) It gets the baby through the egg.

You can hear chirp clearly from outside bator if there is a pip.

WHat was your hatch ratio?
stargazerlabs, you can hear chirps/peeps, pipping is the first little hole they make in the egg, sometimes it is really small and can't even see it. Like right now, i hear some chirps but see no pips.

....any luck today, any chicks for you?

Lockdown is supposed to be tomorrow but I think I may start today.

I started with 10 eggs but 3 days later found 5 were infertile.. Out of 5 ,, one dead at day 15 ,,, already hatch 3 and one just pip 3 hours before..
