Setting eggs in incubator May 3rd...Anyone with me?

all done! set 34 22 hatched. had to assist 2. the third died while i was trying to get to it ti help. it was malpositioned head at the pointy end. i was trying to go slow but wasn't quick enough,.

8 barnyard mix all hatched
8 of 12 ameraucanas hatched
6 of 14 cochins hatched.

we achieved a 69% hatch rate not too shabby for first timers i guess. i am sad about the eggs that didn't make it. but it's good.

Congratulations on the successful hatch! Were any of the eggs shipped eggs or were they all local?

I now have 3 chicks hatched out and several more pipping.
One of the chicks is a barney! So happy to get one of them already! The polish chicks are being hatched for a friend but the barneys are all mine, lol.

I've had so many things go wrong on this hatch that I'm lucky to have a couple pips right now. One of them is very loud and active, I really hope I see more start soon though. I didn't realize that my incubator came unplugged earlier! temp went down to 89, its at 96 now so it's been crawling back up, it wasn't off to long thankfully. Congrats Mamahumecky!!!

Awesome!!! Congrats, i was trapped at the incubator unable to move for two days during my first hatch! I love watching them pop out!

they were all local. and they are stinken cute the black cochin look like little penguins i'm excited but half are going away probly tomorrow. we will keep the ones we want and the rest go off to live with a friend

So when should I remove the two chicks from the incubator? You aren't supposed to open it, so how do you deal with the newborns with hatches that take several days to complete? I am thinking I will wait 24 hours, but I am new and really have no clue.
