Well to keep the humidty up put a small jar by your vent. Then I bet you can figute out a way to get the water in.

lol okay...maybe some drops from an eye dropper every once in awhile through the air vent. I will try this. I did briefly consider buying a squirt bottle, then reconsidered because of the electric hook up for the bulb.

Yes yes! This will work. I think I will cut very small holes above the two sponges so I can add moisture without having to open the incubator. I'm been around 50-55% since adding the second sponge (er pad, not sponge

sorry to hear about your foot. Hope all goes well. Are the turkey poults for the fall, thanksgiving and all that?

I have lockdown Thursday and I pulled a few eggs (6 our of46) this week candling at day 14. But I'm not as familiar with the exploding you mentioned. I assume that might happen if a bad egg was left in? I don't think I have an blood ring eggs but there are a few that I'm not sure they are developing well. Since I'm not sure I was going to leave them in. Can you fill me in a little bit more on the exploding part and what to look for?

Some folks have had a bad egg explode in their bator. This being my second hatch ever, I haven't had that happen yet. I have no idea what to look for, but hope it never happens! I am going to say it would probally be one of those eggs that you wern't sure of and left in to give it a chance????? Being " cooked " for 18-21 days in the bator!!!!!!!
We have a broad brested white turkey whos name is Christmas, but the poults we just got will be for breeding. We are a farm family and some of our birds are marked for the freezer. However, most of our 100 + birds are for raising diffrent breeds for eggs or to sell. There are alot that are just pets and are gonna be here awhile!

I've been using a bendy straw and a syringe to keep my sponge moist. Seems to be working well. I just use the straw to direct the stream of water.

I've been planning on keeping my chicks in the incubator for a little while after they hatch. I've read up to a day, so I was thinking anywhere between several hours (to dry) and a day. If my hatched chics are messing up the other eggs, I would lean towards taking them to the brooder (once they are dry) This is my first hatch, so I'm just sharing my opinion, not from personal experience. 

thanks!! Right now they look... wet. Lol. I think one is going to be yellowish and the other might be silverish or maybe blue. Cute little nuggets. They are Americauna or Amer/polish cross.
All of the hens are Americauna and so are most of the roosters, but there is one Polish rooster.

Rohad Isle Reds, Australorps, Barrd Rocks, New Hampshire Reds, Brown Leghorns, Americana and Aracona for a little color in eggs. 5 Bantys, 2 Favarrolies, 1 Porcelain d'lucce and 1 Seabrite to awe at. 3 pair over friendly Polish Crested for something to laugh at. Black New Jersey Giants and Cornish Cross that will go in the freezer, except a pair of each to hatch out for future replacements. Oh, and 6 turkeys now.
30 Barred mix eggs in the bators, due Saturday.
29 Guinea eggs due next Saturday.
40, Americana, Barred Rock, Australorp, and Rohad Isle Red pure bred eggs to go in bator when this hatch is done along with a flat of eggs my son bought from a man that sells chickens and stuff at Tuckerman. My son said they were banty eggs? I was putting them in cartons so that I could keep them turned easily till Monday and had to ask my son what kind of bantys this man was growing????These eggs were the size of Guinea eggs, some as big as golf balls???? I have bought chicks from this man before and he lives like " in town " so I am pretty sure they are not noisy Guineas. He does have Chochins and silkys so I guess we will have a mystery hatch????

I moved the incubator into the room with the window ac used the most...will try regulating via room temp.

humidity at 65%, temps (3 thermometers) ranging from 99-102 (still air) no vents open. window ac set at 62 (yikes on the electricity for the week)

I also put a small plastic bowl with water right in the middle of the incubator, underneath the bulb which is where it was spiking far too high.
