Setting eggs June 3rd. Need hatching buddies! Lets have some fun!

WE (my son and I) Set 11 on the 5th and then added 2 a couple days later. i will have to say later exactly what chicks they belong to. I know we have 6 aussie in there. And a few "Austracana's" LOL

Caylee I'm glad to hear that your chicks are progressing. Things to watch for shrink wrap.

A cause such as opening the bator or a sudden introduction to dry air (you have that). I should mention most shrink wrapping happens ONLY if there is an external pip. No external pip usually not a problem.

Next look for an external hole that doesn't progress for 12 hours (doesn't always mean anything) but a short break or rest is normal.

If you shine a light in the hole (assuming it is big enough and you can do it without opening the bator) and you see dull on the inside that means membranes are beginning to dry out and they are tougher when they are dry.

If you chick in the shell give a distressing peep over and over again. (there are different peeps). I think this is them complaining to mom.

If the distressing peep starts to get weaker

Then it may be shrink wrapped and need alittle help. Helping is tricky and not to be taken lightly. Many don't help because well the results are always good and then you feel twice as guilty. Others also take in to account you may not want to be breeding weak chickens and sometimes those that need alot of help are just weak.

I hope that yours hatch fine without any help needed but if you become sure they are shrink wrapped then you'll need more help. Somewhere on here is a great video if it comes to that.
