Yeah, i have baby chicks that just hatched. And i just put the Eggs in the bator last night..How are your chicks coming?
I guess I will buy some extra thermometers. I am stuck with one bulb keeping the temp around 96/97 and another bulb keeping it around 103/104. I am using a homemade styrofoam incubator. I received it today. Any other suggestions? I have about 30 eggs ready to set as soon as I get the temp straight.OK I followed the link for Still Air Styrofoam Incubation Cheat Sheet. I have 4 aquarium thermometers plus another thermometer in the incubator since yesterday evening. 3 of the aquarium meters read 100 degrees. One reads 98 degrees. My older meter reads 101-102. Is it good to go? Or should I lower the temp a smidgen?
I picked up 18 hatching eggs today. 3 are Ameracauna, the others are Buff Orps, Silver Laced Wyandotte with a Buff Roo & or SLW roo.
Plus a couple of my Blue Cochins eggs.
Yaaaaay... it's all so exciting, isn't it??? whooooppppeeeeeee!Being the I see 10 little hearts beating, what would actually make these little guys quit? My Brinsea mini (7 eggs) is VERY consistent and my homemade incubator was just a desperate attempt to give the other 5 eggs a chance (I felt guilty). Imagine my surprise when 3 of the eggs in the homemade one are actually doing better than I anticipated. I expected to see NOTHING happen.
Do the embryos just stop progressing for no reason? I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I can't help but be excited. Can someone give me a reality check?![]()
