Setting eggs Memorial Day Weekend! :) They're hatching!!!

Aww...I love watching Chole talk to her babies. Soooooo cute!

Well, I came home from work today to see that I had my first pip! The little guy is even starting to chirp. Come on babies....

Sequoia, good luck. Now it gets really fun. Don't stay up too late.

Airlith, those videos are great. Chloe looks like such a good mom. I love the deep BukBukBuk she mutters throughout the video. So sweet and nurturing.

Talk about amazing! Chole is being a fantastic mom! That BukBukBuk noise she makes is so adorable, and the chicks always respond to it right away.

I went over and closed up the coop, and all five chicks are completely hatched!!!!! 5 out of 5, and all on Day 20! Who would've thought?

So of course I had to shoot another video for you guys

The Littlest Chick and Her Siblings

How are your pips doing Sequoia?

Aw, I can't wait until I have a broody of my own! As I have limited space and to continue me hatching habit, I'll be selling off adult ehns as they lay alomst, I doubt I'll get a broody. Unless my three buff orp chicks turn out to give me one hen, and I know they go broody. Still, will benext year, tey are only 24 hours old now!!

Sequioacyclist - am rooting for your broody and her chicks!! Thanks again for your own encouragement, Sarah.

Sorry, been out celebrating, too much vino.....

At about 10:00pm last night I noticed I had a couple of pips.

Then at about 4:00 this morning the first chick hatched and the second pip was now a hole with a beak peeking through every few seconds. At 5:00 am I noticed two more pips so I figured I'd go to bed for a little while so the first could dry and I'd wake up to more chicks. Got up at 10:00 am and no more had hatched. Plus #2 didn't look much different than it did at 5:00

About 2:30 pm chick still not zipping normally, instead looks like it's just trying to break out. Through the whole hatch process it never zipped, just continued stretching untill it finally broke open!

Here's some progress shots.

First hatched - bad lighting on pic

Now there's 4 more pipped. So far all are from my own eggs. These two are from our yard that white rocks and barred rocks run together. None of my shipped in eggs are showing any promise, well except one and I killed it while culling quitters on day 18 before lock down. I cracked it open to find a little live (black java) chick.

So far looks like about half of the original 41 eggs are duds.

Our first hatched totally re-arranged the eggs in the bator.
