My daughter and granddaughters set mine on the 18th while I was out of town. I am counting the set date as the 19th because they didn't get them in the bator until late in the evening. They spent the weekend fussing and fighting with my Little Giant pain-in-the-a$$ incubator. They finally got the temp dialed in and I gave them permission to ignore the humidity until I got home (today) after they FILLED the bottom of the incubator with water which leaked out all over my desk. So they poured that out, let the temp settle in, and set the eggs. My 12 year old GD stewed and stewed over how to arrange the eggs in the auto-turner so the chicks would have the most room to hatch! I didn't have the heart to tell her that the turner comes out on day 18 and they get laid on the floor!
Anyway, I have in there:
2 eggs from my BB Red OEG bantam couple, Rocky and Adrienne.
From Wingshadows Hacienda (
http://www.localharvest.org/store/M11467) I have:
3 Mille Fleur D'uccles
3 Red Bantam Cochins
3 Buff Bantam Cochins
This is where it really gets ugly. When I got home today I found a stash of 3 bantams eggs on the floor in a corner of the coop. I assume they are from Rocky and Adrienne but there is a little Silver Laced bantam OEG tart named Chima that flirts with him as well. She had not started laying before we left, so who knows whose eggs they are. I wrote the date on them and slipped them in with the others. I know, I know, but I just
couldn't help myself. I may have to get myself a new bator before lockdown. DARN, silly me!
Oh, and I have five silkies coming from MPC that are due to be shipped on Monday. Call me crazy.
