Setting eggs on 7/15/2011 anyone want to join me

OH MY! I woke up this morning and I have 2 pips and something chirping in the bator! I have a total of 7 eggs left in there so hopefully I'll end up with 4 EEs, 2 Polish and 1 showgirl mix. Thank goodness I'll be home to watch most of the day - the suspense just kills me!

Yaaay for new chicks!

Think I got a big zero. Uggggg.... oh well. I am going to give them another day and see what happens, but I doubt anything will hatch. candled a couple and there is no movement and they don't look any different than when i put them on lock down 3 days ago. crud....... Got some of my own eggs poised on the counter to try again right away.

Oh! I have a funny story to share about this hatch. When I took the hatcher apart to clean, I never put the 'door hardware' back on. So, it was just 'there'.
Last night, about 2:30, Lily started barking and I woke up enough to tell Tom to "go see if the dog needs to go out".
He came right back to the bedroom with a CHICK!
Darby had got excited about the hatching chicks
(she spends a lot of time doing this

when chicks are hatching)
and knocked off the hatcher door and a chick must of fallen out (or maybe the door just fell off, but it had to have some 'help').
I didn't see it, but Tom said Darby was in the floor curled around the chick, with Lily (Darby's grown daughter) laying next them. The cats were in their crate for the night and stretching paws through the door to try to reach the chick. Lily was barking at the cats when they stuck out paws.
It must have just happened, because the thermometers were reading 89* and 91*. The chick was fine and I don't even know which one it was now.

Chicks are still in hatcher and this hatch is ongoing (draggy).
Good luck!

Woke up to 4 chicks in the bator, 3 more to go (hopefully). Today is officially day 21 and I have 2 EEs that have pipped and then there is my poor little showgirl/banty mix that hasn't done boo. Chicks that had hatched already were spinning that poor egg like mad so I took them out this morning and put them in the brooder. The humidity level only dropped down to 60 for a few minutes and it's back up to 75 so hopefully the two pipping will be o.k.

Here are the pics! 2 Polish and 2 Blue Wheaton Ameracauna/EE mixes.

Does anyone know... on the BWA/EE mix why they are different colors? One is "red" and the other is the typical chipmunk??

Cute! Cute! Cute! No clue about wheaten/ee crosses. What color are the ee's?
Penny, I keep them inside when people are here. They both are snappish with strangers, especially Lily.
Darby is a keen 'chicken-hound'. A few weeks ago, I moved Day 18 eggs to the hatcher and when I went in the incubator to turn the next time, Darby stuck her head in and wouldn't move to let me close the door. She kept whining and pawing the door and SURE ENOUGH, there were a doz eggs still in the back of the incubator that I should have moved to hatcher that morning. I don't know how she knew.
Good luck with the Am's. I've got some in the hatcher right now.

All 12 that went into lockdown are hatched now. We had to help the last one a little. It was having the hardest time.
11 are in the brooder now and the last one is drying off in the hatcher.
They are so cute!

I'll try to get pics by tomorrow.
