hey guys, rough couple of days, one chick survived..one darn chick...the last one died yesterday...
I think I know what killed them, something really simple, but overlooked...they had some cracked corn get into their "transition" pen, not enough grit yet, so it simply killed them...it either got "scratched" in there or some may have been spilled...WOW, this truly blows...
But the one that is left is doing ok, traumatized but ok. I put it with my hatch from last week, and it appreciates the company.
I was loving my mixed Silkies so much, I contacted the person I bought them from and as soon as they get to laying again I am going to have more shipped. I loved having a batch of standard breeder Silkies and a batch of great mixes.
I learned a big lesson the hard way...everything redone, not gonna happen again! Good news, Showgirls go into lock-down next week, and I set some Russian Orloffs.
justtoni44, I do want to do the blues, I am hoping to do blue and black copper marans together, as soon as one bator is free. Next week I am going to be pulling together a boatload of Silkie eggs (to ease the pain
so I will message you and see how the ladies are doing LOL
Thanks guys, gonna check on the peeps
Oh, we did get a new family member, and thanks to her I did not wallow in my tears too much...a breeder giveaway.
