Setting eggs on July 9th, anyone want to join me?

I candled my 12 Silkie eggs, and half were clears. The rest have something in them, so I put them back. I grabbed 3 random SFH eggs and they all have live embryos. Fingers crossed. Lockdown on Wednesday for the Silkies, next Monday for the Swedes. I've got 6 mutt eggs in lockdown now. One looked live a few days ago. Not sure of the others.

Most of mine look like this at day 13. DEAD?

In some the dark area is bigger and in some is a little bit smaller and just 3 of them look almost all dark. This are blue ameraucana eggs. What you all think?

More than half the mad hatchers batch are showing life! We've got development in even some of the worst eggs :). I'll probably have to help a few due to dryness but that's one of the hazards of playing with old eggs. Over heated eggs and refrigerated really old eggs. And Thomas, the little Orp That Could, is getting ready to hatch. Go Thomas! He kicked again this morning when I candled him after rolling the other batch. Good boy.

Yes, I know, I'm doingggg it wronggg. But with his troubles, I'm keeping a daily check on him. Fortunately the Winkubator comes back wicked fast to temp and humidity balance. I still think the fan is running too fast. After this mad hatchers batch, I will put it on a dimmer. I don't like the computer fans. The Winkubator fan is a small fridge fan. They're more durable.

All the eggs for the Mad Hatchers Batch are in cartons, so turning is just a few quick flips and I'm out of there. I really enjoy impossible hatches. So much less stress. What happens, happens.

Luck to you all. Don't over think it. Let em roll. It happens or it doesn't and freaking about development every day will give you an ulcer.

you know... I love reading how your 'sentenced for dead' eggs are doing. I was just wondering last about them night. Thanks for sharing. I feel like I got a mad hatters batch...of heated cooked eggs...lol. I all but threw in the towel. I will be happy with just 2 babies. Just tossed 27 eggs last night from not starting. Just curious...how late is too late for you. If you don't see veining by ...... when do you toss. Oh, what is the latest you have seen eggs start once you put them in the bator. I tossed mine on day 7... i was pretty sure they weren't going to miraculously start veining... BUT there is you and your miraculous eggs... So share please Your wisdom on mad hatter Eggs.

and I have a PC fan that blows hard... I never thought of the dimmer...hmmm... I will have to make adjustments when these eggs are out.

PS (my question marks have vanished )

Had a nightmare. In my dream the light bulb of my incubator kept breaking without a cause (broke 3 times) and the eggs were cooling down. I was desperate trying to find another bulb and found one smaller that didn't fit the socket but with tape.  I still was trying to attach it to the socket. The I heard that my chickens were attacked And as I ran towards them I found legs, wings and different body parts. I was sure I was facing a dog as the predator but when I arrived it was a evil looking FAIRY....A FAIRY.. the I woke up....seriuslly....A FAIRY. I woke ip and ran to check the bator and was ok. uuufffffffff. going back to bed.

I hate egg fairies they are awry things lol

My power went out sometime during the night. The incubator was down to 97 this morning, but not sure how long it was off. It had to be off at least 3 hours. Will my eggs be OK?

The first time I was incubating eggs I lost power 2 times. The first time it lasted like 9 hours and the second time a few days later lasted 3 hours. one week later hatched 5 chicks out of 11 shipped eggs. I was sure they were dead I also had heat spikes...a few times I found the tempt to be 110. So..anything can happen. Good luck.

I set up for lock-down today, my first ever.
I removed the turner, filled the trays, added a bowl of water.
I put one thermometer on the bowl, the other in the bottom of the incubator. I put the hydrometer in the egg carton with the eggs.
the lower thermometer reads 98.5 the upper is more like 101.5 wow???that much difference???
the hydrometer is at 65-68%

Should the vent plugs be in or out?
It is a LG still incubator.
