5 chicks this morning and 1 pipped a crack in shell late last night, but nothing more this morning. We will see when I get home. I hope it makes it and couple more would be nice, but am happy with first ever attemp at hatching. Homemade bator, shipped eggs in January.I am glad that some made it.I will reload next thursday or friday and try again. Hooked

All five of my eggs have pipped! I can see the beak in one of them. So excited. This is going so much more smoothly than the first time. Maybe because I'm not a complete nervous wreck this time. Still nervous and impatient, but not totally freaked out like the first time I hatched.

Good News from Alex! I have 2 more chicks this morning! Yay!!! I have 3 Buff Orpingtons now! We opened the 4th egg and it wasn't alive. It was kinda sad but I guess that is how nature works. There is a new little chick running around peeping in heaven, making the angels smile. Maybe not but it makes me feel better.

I hope I have 3 girls or 2 girls and 1 boy. We are going to build them a seperate coop and run if I have a boy.

Natalie- You are the one that taught me to be patient about the hatching! I guess it's my turn to remind you! I think you will have lots of chicks today! Do you want to borrow my ducktape! ha ha Are you feeling better yet? I had to start my allergy medicine early this year specially with all the chicks in the house and the warm weather.
How is the chick with the yolk doing? Did it ever get finished? At least it has a friend now to keep it company.

My last d'uccle hatched out! 19 chicks total!! Its wing was stuck to the shell via a hard sticky bit of membrane, but it's running around in the brooder now!

They are hatching!!! I have one out so far. Of course it came out five mintutes after I left for work. But DH texted me photos ans audio!!! He's so awesome.

Okay,
Las night we had one pip and peep and this morning it came out! The pappa is a RIR and the momma is a White Rock. Today is day 20 so it's eary, but nice and healthy. When it peeps, three other eggs start to move!! I think it's cheering them on.

GUESS WHAT!! IT STARTED! IT STARTED!!
My DH called me at 4:30 at work to tell me that there were holes in 4 of the BCM eggs. When I got home at 5:30 - 1 was away from the shell and I watch the other leave the shell. YEAH!! I guess I did hear a Good Night Chirp last night!
Now how soon do I move them into the brooder. I know they have to dry off a bit. But there is is very little room for them to move around.
