Hello! I set my second incubator full of eggs, more than I had room for actually and I'm expecting them to hatch June 21st-22nd!

47 eggs in total

True Ameraucana
Blue Laced Red Wyandottes
Olive Egger / Lavender Orpington Cross
Olive Egger / French Black Copper Maran Cross

A great mix of colour! Best of luck fellow hatch addicts!

Oliver Eggers... what I would do for some Oliver Eggs in my eggs basket. Are they hard to hatch? Are they from your flock or do you purchase online? Good luck with the hatch!

In my experience Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers and Ameraucana are the easiest to hatch, and make for a great example when showing children in a classroom. The shells are easy to see through and you can see all the veins and movement throughout the incubation, plus the hybrid quality makes them super viable/vigorous chicks, I've never had less then 80% hatch and the chicks seem to be able to break out of the shells super well... unlike Marans who take a long long time and I think get stuck inside the super hard eggshell.

I haven't purchased eggs online yet... I'm scared to, I worry that they'll all be non-viable and I just spent 50$, I might try a dozen in the fall, see how that goes, it would open up my breed possibilities and blood lines. The olive eggers aren't from my flock, it's from a friend's... Olive Eggers are all the rage, figure I'd try it out!

Ameraucana to the left, Middle is OE, and BLRW on the right.

Hey! My husband set our eggs in the 'bator just after midnight May 31'st/June 1'st so *hopefully* they hatch around the 20th or 21'st. We have 4 silkie eggs, a few pure austrolorps and numerous aus crosses. 19 eggs total, we'll see how it goes. Candled yesterday (day 3) and saw prominent veins in all but 3. One was really dark, one I don't think was actually fertilized and one that the husband says he saw veins, I disagree. I told him if I don't see anything in the 2 lighter colored ones on Saturday (day 7) they go to the dog.

Gorgeous eggs! Thanks for sharing.

Candled mine Saturday (day 7) and culled 3, 1 red ring of death and 2 with no veins. Power went out for 3hrs today, candled again. Almost all of them look really good. 1 looks like it has twins! I know it's unlikely, but we are hoping to hatch them out

. 1 has an area that looks like baby chicken eyeball but there is a weird area that is outlined....don't know what it is, gonna wait it out til next Saturday. In all of my silkie eggs it looks like they're doing Mambo number 5! I am soooo excited!

Hey hey! Day 13! Candling my eggs tonight after the kids go to bed. Hopefully it's all good!

We started with 19 and are down to 15 now. At day 10 we had some that were iffy so we'll see if everthing's going good! How's everyone else's going so far?

Only had to cull one more last night... I think I missed it from before, because it looked non-developing... otherwise all is well! My earlier batch is piping and hatching like crazy! One thing I'm unsure about is my 13 Olive egger eggs from one source, they are so dark I can't tell whats going on, the air cell looks good and the bottom half is dark dark dark, a true surprise awaits!
