If you need the humidity up fast, hot water will do the trick.I wondered about water temp. I read somewhere when adding water, that it should be lukewarm...but hot makes more sense when you have a humidity problem already.

I love my Hovabator genesis so much that I don't even put in a thermometer or hygrometer ... I just fill the middle trough till lockdown then fill the middle two for lockdown....I never open the bator till lockdown
I have a funnel and tube in the top that I run through the vent hole to fill up the troughs when needed...
I will candle mine on Friday at lockdown but last I checked all 11 are developing...
Just got word from my buddy I've had at least a dozen hatch off todayI can't wait to get them in the morning!
On day 13 I believe candled and down to 9 eggs, one of my serama eggs has what looks like 2 bouncing embryos/chicks inside
So I'm down to 7 showgirls and 2 serama eggs I've upped the temp from 99.5 to a safe 100.0 F
SO happy for you!!!!OMG OMG OMG!!! I am crazy early but out of paranoia of reading and me thinking I might have done EVERYTHING wrong and my eggs would never even start to grow (I'm on day 4 as of 7pm, yes, down to the hour), I broke down and did an instant candle inside the incubator without touching the eggs. AND OMG!!! I see veins and little pink blobs inside EVERY EGG!!!!! All 11!!! I know it's super early to be excited and a billion things could go wrong after this but... YAY! I guess I'm doing okay so far!And shipped eggs at that!!!![]()

I have 5 bouncing baby chicks developing, so happy (shipped eggs). 10 more days until they are due!
Welcome! The more the merrier!just found this thread... I set 4 of my own pullet mixed eggs on Sept 22. (SLW hen with a Blue Splash Wheaten Americana Roo) hope they hatch.the eggs are small...
I was suposed to be finished...but I also just set 2 BCM eggs, 1 RIR, 4 or 5 EE... i lost count.. I set these just the other day... I know I am out of the date parameters... but I am going to follow along for support...lol Nice to see you all again...
I drowned one chick in my last hatch because I used a small bowl of water to increase humidity tooOh I had the opposite problem. I drowned 5 of my chicks during the last hatch. Here in Florida, humidity is t really a problem. I have heard of someone wrapping the bator with a towel (round the sides) which helped both temp and humidity control![]()
Hey there my southern neighbor! No rain here eitherI'm in Oregon..and we have gone more than 100 days without rain...so humidity is really low. Course, I'm sure once these guys hatch the winter rains will start and we will be flooding for the next 4 months! LOL
