Thanks :'') I am 100% exhausted and so far that egg has done nothing since the pip (I'm about 100% certain that he/she is fast asleep and taking a long nap from all that hard work!) I just want to go to sleep, quite frankly...but I sleep for about 10 hours and if it hatches a short while after I fall asleep - I don't want it stuck in there for 10 hours (will probably be dry in 4) =/ SO here I sit, half awake. Time to make coffee I guess.
Most chicks pip and then take a longggg rest. They are finishing up absorbing the yolk and the blood vessels are drying up. I would go lay down and maybe set your alarm clock to wake up in a few hours. Otherwise you are going to get NO sleep in the next couple of days. I remember during my very first hatch I had like 4 hours of sleep within 48 hours I finally went to bed because I was totally incoherent. My daughter came in around 2 am to tell me that 2 more chicks were zipping and I answered her and don't remember doing so. When I finally did wake up there were two more chicks that had hatched.
