Setting Eggs Sept. 24th-Oct. 4th-Last Hatch of the Year. Anyone care to join me?

Thanks RoxanneinLa! They actually had a special on the silkie chicks for $3.75!

Thanks RoxanneMC!  You know this is confusing a tad bit! Ha! Ha!

I know I say thanks Roxanne and that just doesn't suffice does it??? :p

I am feeling so much better now. This new baby knows how to eat and drink well so maybe that will encourage my little one to start. She is three days old and needs to start quickly!!!

Oh and by the way, I have to join up on the new thread too. One of the Serama hens has decided to become broody here in the last third of October. BAH!!!!

I think i was a day late and dollar short here with my info haha....I read all the posts and saw brook already had told you the same.
anyway alls well that ends well and i am so very happy your baby has a friend now and cute too.Do you know what breed?

Yes i have seen a few Roxannes in my life but not a lot.One worked at a nearby store and it would make me look around when someone addressed her!I use to be Roxy too but my job the boss started off with Roxanne the first day then everyone did and i have used Roxanne ever since.

Add some wet hot sponges to the rack (I cut one in strips about an inch wide and use two pieces), that will shoot the humidity up fast.
I had a wet washcloth in the incubator, didn't do much. The sponge did get it to about 65% so hoping that'll be good enough.
WOW what a gorgeous hen!!!

Did any 'Sweet Pea' or 'Ruth eggs make it to lockdown?
I have 2 Sweet Pea and 1 Production Red that made it. Lock down is Monday for these little ones. Actually saw one a little foot kicking around in the last candling of a sweet pea egg.

Just an update: Am coordinating going down to meet Catdance and pick up a couple of Silkies or hatching eggs with my daughter.

Oh that is awesome...I am soooo jealous you get to go there and meet karen and see her set up...please tell her that I have some amazing silkies from her and this hatch I just did are my very first from her birds...can't wait to see what you get...

I will have Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, Black, Splash and Blue Copper Marans and Wheaton Marans in Spring as well, so we can trade if you want any of the above :p

I'm VERY jealous!!!! :yesss:

Thanks everyone for the good luck you wished on me. I was able to get a little silkie baby for my hatchling as a companion. You know they were awfully cute and they even had a couple with vaults which surprised me. They were a little older or I would have gotten them. I bought this one because it was the tiniest in the group and it is even a tad bit smaller than mine, so fingers crossed this works out. S/He was the only one of this color which looks almost like a lavender to me. The vaulted babies were white and if I think too hard on it I may go back down there tomorrow and buy them since I don't have any white silkies right now.

First pictures shows the color and it running away from my camera, the second shows my little girl giving it the stink eye! Ha! Ha! Ha!

So glad you got a friend...I would have gotten them all....lol...she looks buff if not red to me...

The one I hatched is a CatDance Porcelain. Her Porcelain pen is porcelain only I believe is what she said. I am hoping for one like this (aren't we ALL?? Right???):

The little one I just bought - I have no idea the color. It may be a silver white. It doesn't look red to me at all, but may be a light buff. I know it has the blue looking coloring as well as the creamy color. Two years ago I would have bought them all too, but I am trying to "upgrade" my silkie flock. I am not a good "culler" because I get attached to them, so I have to restrict myself.
