sad to say this but no chicks..i haven't heard a noise or seen movement in several days.....so no chicks

Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry! I'm wondering if it is like what was said to me about the weather fluctuating too much??? My temps and humidity stayed very stable the entire time so I was quite confident they would all hatch. Lesson sooooo learned. How has your weather been there over the last month? The rest of my eggs did not hatch. So I have 2 chicks, which I am EXTREMELY grateful for but those two still look awful (look like they are covered in glue, I will post a picture later) and I had to get them both out. These rest of my eggs are still in the bator but I will be tossing them today. I don't want to open them up as I know they are all fully formed chicks except for 1 and I don't want my heart to hurt more by seeing them.

It's so sad when it doesn't go as hoped

It was stabled till about when there hatch time and it just went crazy cold. The temp and humidity was really hard to keep control with the sudden weather change...i guess that is why spring is the best time to hatch eggs. Fall is very unstable with the temp changes unless you have those awesome incubators that regulate themselves. Ya, i'll be tossing them today too...just breack my heart to know one was trying it's best to get out with it rocking n rolling around and chirping away...so ya not doing an egg tospy on them. So sorry to hear about your loss too

Here are my only two little survivors!!! They are what most would call little ugly ducklings but I am in LOVE! I hope they both make it! They still have that awful glue on them that did in the other eggs. It does not come off with warm water. One hatched a day before the other and you can see it has fluffed its self out a bit more than number 2. They are both going potty but will only eat hard boiled egg yolk so far. They look at the food when I "peck at it" with my finger but still to no avail. So I'm hand feeding them constantly. Chick number one has regular poo's so far but number two only has water that comes out when it goes. I'm thinking it's because it's body is using up the little that it's eating? They both drink all of the time though and do that on their own.

Congrats on your chickies :)

Sounds like they are doing pretty well. It may take them a bit to peck and eat. Dawn Dish soap and even hydrogen peroxide, I have heard are good things to use, but I am not sure if trying it all over on new babies is such a good idea. (I used in for pasty butt) I wouldn't want them to get chilled. So don't do anything like that until you hear from the more experienced chick mommas on here.

Brookhavens how are your new Silkies doing? Did your little baby that was your favorite make it?

I thought I would post some pictures of my chicks that are 5 1/2 weeks old now. Hope you don't mind. I'm not asking for which looks like a boy or a girl but I have to say that there seems to be some larger bumpy combs on some of these babies. Only time will tell...

LAVENDER

BUFF

PARTRIDGE

B/S

BLACK

PORCELAIN

Wish I could have got a better full body picture of the Lavender but it was squawking like stuck pig and wouldn't hold still long enough.

Well you did a great job taking pictures of them! They are beautiful! I'd guess 50/50 - three boys and three girls (though you didn't ask)!

I have had chicks that I helped from being shrink wrapped before and I bathed them in warm water while I gently brushed the goo off with a soft toothbrush...you need to soak the goo to get it back to the sticky membrane.
I could see the goo on the chicks and tell when their feathers where clean...I bathed them a couple of times but only for a minute or two then stri.ght back under the heat lamp...

I worked though and they soon started to fluff up...you could use a bit of Dawn as well as I think that would work...the chicks liked the warm bath but make sure it is not cold or gets cold...

Ahhh how sweet. Hope you get the goo off.

Really 50/50? I think you may be right, lol. Those are some big combs unless...they don't get any bigger and turn out just to be advanced girls, tee hee.
