Setting eggs this weekend! Aug 14th! any hatching buddies?

Aaaa! Little feather-footed guys are too cute! Yeah, definitely not Delawares! XD Probably cochins. I have a bunch of Buff Orpington eggs, and as fate would have it, the first one to hatch was BLACK! Looks like someone's been messing around behind the BO rooster's back ...

Well here is my results. I put nine eggs that were given to me in a homemade incubator. Now granted this was my very first time at incubating. Out of the nine eggs five were non-starters. 1 hatched and is doing great! 3 were 3/4 quitters. I am very happy with the one chick, but have decided that I will break down and buy a real incubator in the spring for my second try. I don't put all the blame on the incubator it was about 50-50 with human error. Hope everyone elses results are better than mine!!!

Yes going to chicken stock in NY!! Hopefully with a van full of chicks too!
Gonna set another 30 tonite once I stabilize

My broody hen knocked that last of her eggs out of the box today so I took it that she is done sitting on it. Shook it a little and could hear liquid in it, eww.

Final count is 4 adorable chicks.

that they're all pullets since we've gotten 6 cockerels out of the other 8 eggs that we let the hens hatch this summer!!

ok im up to 4 chicks. one dark brahma, one light brahma, 2 what looks to be black silkies. 1 didnt absorb the sac all the way so I placed it and the bottom half of the shell in a smaller container in the bator. Hoping it doesnt move around to much and sucks the rest in. Its not alot but enough to keep it separated.
so 4 more silkie eggs to go...waiting for a pip! the suspense is killing me!

Acid were you at PA chickenstock?
Cant wait to meet you too!
