Setting eggs this weekend! Aug 14th! any hatching buddies?

There are 6 from my own flock from a a buff rock/aust. hen and a americana roo. The 3 1/2 dozen I bought for $5, there are 5 milli eggs, I belive 10 americana eggs(EE?) and a bunch of delaware eggs. My sister said there birds were very pretty and healthy looking. The 3 turkey eggs are from a burbon red tom crossed with a BB white hen.

Sounds like you have quite a lovely group coming! Do you have a pic of your buff mix hen? I'd love to see what that combo looks like! I have my three BR pullets and 1 (99% certain) BR roo, but my 1 Australorp pullet is my fave. She's so personable and curious!

Im afraid all i have is a one bad pic. She ( Pheebe) is mostly black with alittle brown around her neck. I got them as chicks from a farm up the road from me. There are two in the back of the picture, Tho I only have one now thanks to a predator. I had a br rock/aust roo, He was mostly black with silver down his back, very pretty, but I found him a home, too many roos,

In the front is Mack my tom.

Gretchen is great I just got 3 lil buff splash polish chicks from her

sadly we lost one due t the stress of the trip

But it will be replaced at Chicken Stock in NY.

So my eggs are hanging in there, Im thinking of candling tonight...just bc I have two eggs with shipping dings in them and I wanna know whats going on!!

And I just got my new bator today. Im currently borrowing one from a friend. But I had to have my own

Its a Hova Bator. The eggs are in a fall harvest now with a egg turner.
You guys hand turning or egg turner?

Sorry to hear about one of your Polish from Gretchen, Bloomin. Her birds are awesome! We have about 15 Polish, 3 BLRW's, and a flock of Mille Fleur d'Uccles from her. You got the buff laced from her? They are honestly the most gorgeous. Did you get smooth or frizzle?


We have a "Bob-o-bator" as our incubator. It is a used Pepsi cooler, with the glass front door. It had 4 shelves (but could hold more). Hubby and I found it for $25, added the heating elements and outlets for the turners and we can incubate over 200 eggs for less that $50 in the 'bator. We bought one egg turner new and one used off of Craiglist. So, all in all, we have less than $100 in it and the only other expense we will have is buying more turners if we want to do more eggs.

Auto turner for me! I don't think I could do hand turning...the PRESSURE!!!

haha That, and I work full time, so the scheduling woldnt be so hot. I'm working with an LG still air...I should have done better BYC research and gone with the Hova. Seems like a better machine overall...
