i just noticed this thread.....

i set mine on the 7th of january....so i'm lookin at about the 28th....got all mine from a lady in jersey.....about 6 hrs away...she sent me 18 and said they were all fertile.....

on day 8 and 9 i candled them and had 7 that were veiny and moving and the rest were duds...i brokem open and wasnt anythign there except a yolk...so i dont think they were fertile at all

btw all mine are ameracaunas...except one that i pulled out of my nesting boxes and threw in there its a huge brown one...it ought to be real interesting...cause i have a slew of hens and dont know who laid it...

i have 3 roos 1 is my buff(hes my avatar) 1 white leghorn and 1 jersey giant cross

my hens are red sex links, RIR, ameeracauna, white rocks, mille fleur and a pile of mixed breeds...so this one egg should be interesting...

The waiting is killing me...although there is only one due to hatch tomorrow, if all goes well, it will be my very first silkie chick to hatch.

I have 6 hens sitting right now...

1st Hatch - set January 3, due to hatch January 23 - TOMORROWWWW! 1Egg-It was my 1st try
2nd Hatch - Set January 13th, due to hatch February 2nd - 4 Eggs
3rd Hatch - Set January 15th, due to hatch February 4th - 5 Eggs
4th Hatch- Set January 20th, Due February 9th - 6 eggs
5th Hatch- Set January 21st, Due February 10th - 6 eggs...

My attention is set for the one due to hatch tomorrow...I candled it and it looks good.

I want to join ! Set Marans eggs ( blue and splash ) 1-3 along with about a dozen of my own hens eggs ( mainly LF Cochins ) then received some more Marans eggs ( blue) that I didn't think I was going to get . Set them 1-7 . I have only hatched chicks one other time and that was during last summer's dreadful heat . I use a 1502 Sportsman Incubator and it holds lots of eggs . So hatch dates are 1-24 and 1-28 .

My shipped Marans eggs are hatching right now , have three so far on the first hatch and two of my own ( half blue Marans and LF Cochin ) So am very excited that the shipped eggs are doing so well .

I candled and I now have 11 Welsh Harlequin duck eggs left!

I also put 5 homegrown chicken eggs in the bator and they're all doing good!

My hatch day is February 8th!

I'm placing my eggs into lockdown tonight! I'm so excited. When I turned them this morning a couple of them were wobbling on their own! Yay!
My incubator says to open the second air vent during lockdown and as this is my first use, I don't know what that will do to the temperature.
Anybody have experience with this? My incubator is a simple still air model.
