Setting eggs today (1/9) hatch buddy?!

I have one left to hatch! My little silkie hen is a great incubator! I should have more eggs this weekend from my Cochin bantam cross!

Yay! 13 out of 16 hatched! 2 died

= 11 babies total. 6 phoenix, 3 Bantam Drk Brown leghorns and 2 Seramas!
Clover is being a good 1st time momma!

I had 11 hatch two died one of which didn't make it out of the shell just the beak the blood vessels didn't shut down in the membrane at all after two days. All of mine are silkies 1 paint 1 porcelain 3 blue/splash 4 buff

or i just put my 16 eggs in lockdown removed turner and set eggs on side i have a question i put towel down so it wouldnt get as messy when they start hatching for easy cleanup but the towels the eggs are sitting on are wet is this bad will the eggs die sitting on the wet towel

I have never used towel I would think the air wouldn't circulate. I have used a thin foam and heard of others using shelf liner that is also porous I hatched the last batch on wire. I laid them down and had two try to hatch from the wrong end of the egg opposite of the air cell. I used egg cartons with the bottoms removed for the two hatches last year. I have a batch in the incubator now I think I will use shelf liner over the wire for them haven't decided on the egg cartons yet I think the Silkie eggs are to small for the larger end to be elevated on it's own in a nest it would rest on the inclined sides. I hate to lose them because of them pipping on the wrong end.

Ok... All 5 eggs hatched. 1 died shortly after hatch. I think it got messed up to much with the shavings i had in there, although none of the other hatchlings did. It never dried and fluffed... I know, those things happen.

Tomorrow is day 21 for the eggs under my other broody Skeeter. I candled them tonight... I know I know. 5 of the 6 looked good. 1 had quit somewhere in the middle of developement, so I discarded it.
