First, yay!Am dying to catch up on the last 22 posts BUT first, I have news to spread!!! I got my first Maran's hatch!! Nothing this morning when I left for work, but just got home and found one little beauty had hatched and was lying gorgeously amongst the others.![]()
Now though, I need some help... I have found that another has pipped... but at the wrong end. I'm so glad I marked those airsacs, or I would not have had a clue! I candled it, and found it is in the air sac and very active. Is it likely that it tried to pip the wrong end then corrected its position? Or is it struggling and am I looking at claws in the airsac??????? Help!![]()
Second, I had two pip the wrong end with this hatch (It seems to be an incubator issue, as they shouldn't be so common.) One got out no problem, the other sat for about 24 hours at the pip stage before I helped it zipper. I'd say let it be if it's active and has access to air; if it isn't out after a day you might consider assisting.
