yeah!
"She" has a very bright eye. :) Good sign!

Congratulations, Compton!

Decided that im going to candle the remaining 9 eggs that havent moved since my three chicks hatched on sunday morning. What exactly should I look for? Movement and internal pipping right? Tomorrow is day 23

Me, I am eating a late lunch right at the incubator.

Is chick #1 going to be the only one? Are chicks like water? They only hatch when you don't look? There are seven more....surely at least one could pip so that I know another chick is alive.......then I could leave them and do chores.....surely I could......of course I could......as soon at there is one more pip. :eyeroll:

You know all the adds that BYC has on the pages? I find it interesting that none of the adds are for "how to manage your chicken addiction" or " for just ten dollars a day we can teach you to be patient while you are incubating" :lau

Chick #1, after flopping around the incubator a few laps, got super close to the point of proper chick walking, but then was so tired, that she is now out cold. That was a super amount of work for a new chick.

So, I keep thinking that maybe, perhaps, it could be, that two of the eggs are making tiny itsy bitsy little movements. But I just am not sure...and there are no pips. :( If I don't get a move on, I will get no work done at all today. How do the rest of you'll manage to WALK AWAY for the incubator, and the STAY AWAY from the incubator. I NEED A TEN STEP PROGRAM (ten steps away, then ten steps back )

Congrats Alaskan...its a cutie...I reckon its a boy though - generous comb...but who cares, its adorable.

There's often an early riser...could be a good few hours before you see another pip. Or maybe they are pipping underneath...

Mrs guardian, you could candle but it'll be hard to spot movement, but you can look for internal pips. Or you can float test as Alaskan said.

A watched pot never boils and all that...after all I had two hatch and 3 pips while I was doing the school run on Monday...its rare to see it pip before your eyes, more fun to watch zipping. In fact the only egg that has ever pipped right in front of me was the first chick I ever hatched in my life, probably because I was glued to the window of the incubator. His name was Fergus. He was supposed to be a BLRW but turned out to be just silver laced. Awww. Happy memories.

I'm off to bed. I'm taking the chicks into my daughter's school class tomorrow. Bit nervous about how they'll cope with an hour long round trip. Look forward to seeing pics of the new chicks tomorrow...night!
