Setting eggs today...20th May...anyone else?

My horizontal egg made it out just now! YEAH!

(I wonder why he started zipping horizontal, but ah well)

And My Precious is better at sitting and moving like a proper new chick, instead of just lying on her back. So, YEAH!

Right now, I am up to four live chicks!

I think one of the eggs in the back row wiggled.

So, so far, so good!

My little scooter is not looking any better. But Blossom and Disco are going great-guns! Isn't it interesting how I haven't named the sick one - I am not holdin gout much hope for her, I think that's why.

Its not looking good for her if there is zero improvement.

Excellent.
I have to say I'm impressed with your incubator maintaining humidity enough to let these guys get out themselves. Normally with mine once I have to help one then its means they are all in trouble, so great job. What brand is it?

So evil buff broody decided, the best babies aren't ones you hatch yourself. They are the ones you steal. So she stole the red sex links baby and called it her own.

Then te red hatched out 2 more babies and in the night they vanished, same thing happened a couple weeks ago with a Rhode ISland Reds baby... I think another hen is eating them or something.. Ew.

Ack

My incubator has been HORRID with keeping stable temps, but it is over 15 years old. It is a petiatic.

This is a terrible picture,

Right now their names are (in order of hatch),
12, My Precious, 7, horizontal, and Baby

I think 12 and 7 are both roosters, and the others girls.

I am TIRED, was up all night watching the incubator, 12 kept trying to eat his siblings, and baby was slow at hatching, and the temps on my incubator STILL don't stay stable.

At 5am there was more frantic peeping, saw that 12 was eating siblings again, that Baby had hatched, AND that the temp was up to 104!!!!!! (It had been 99 and 100 all night). So.....I had to make a spot for the Turkeys in the not quite redone coop, put the chicks where the turkeys had been (extra bathtub), and since I was already up and it was then getting to be 6, feed and let out the young chicks (2 months now I think).

OK, DS 2 is having a birthday today

I forgot to say, five is it.....the other three that had made it to lock down, I opened them and it looked like they had died about the time of lockdown.

Oh, and the incubator I have been using is huge, maybe a 18" cube? So I put in a tub of water with a cardboard lid, so no chicks could jump in it, but so that it would help the humidity. I also had the humidity drawer it comes with filled, and a small cup of water under the false bottom I put in the incubator to raise the level of the eggs.

My bator is horrid at keeping steady as well. :/ That's why I'm getting increasingly worried that I haven't seen anything from my egg...not a peep, not a twitch. He's due tomorrow, so I thought I'd have seen him moving a bit by now in preparation of hatching?

Amy, don't panic yet, mine didn't twitch at all until after they pipped.

Yours also came out in an awful hurry! :p It would be MY egg that decided to be fashionably late, hehe. You guys weren't kidding, the waiting is absolutely awful. Why didn't this affect me as a kid? My mother would always freak out during late incubation but I'd be all "meh". Now I think I understand.
