Setting eggs today...20th May...anyone else?

Still nothing...getting bit grumpy now...
Those little boogers are just seeing how much you care. I'm sure they'll make themselves known soon!

Today I woke up to three more pips and the first pipper has its beak through the membrane. I guess we're getting this show rolling a day or two early. One chick is pipping along the bottom of the egg, but it'll have to help itself until everyone else is out. The broody is still getting up for food and water, no pips. I hope she's pulled at least a few through, but she hasn't been the most diligent mother so far.

This is my first time using the little Brinsea, and I'm finding it almost too automated. I trusted the manufacturer with the humidity, and now I have no idea what the actual numbers are. I liked the idea of staggered, smaller hatches, but what is a control freak to do?

I've learned my lesson with this current hatch. If I do this again I'm getting a R-com Mini.

I'm sorry to read about your egg troubles, hopefully your mystery egg will pull through! I've never tried incubating ducks, though I'd like to start next year. Pekins are too delicious to ignore for much longer...

Oh man, there's an Asian market the next town over that sells whole roast duck, vendor-style. Every time I go the smell drives me nuts!

I hope my egg will pull through, too. Kind of rude of the little brat to go and fill the entire egg so I can't see a bloody thing in there! It's either full of kicking chick or it's dark from burst blood vessels painting the walls like Dexter.Or maybe it just put up curtains in there because it got tired of me peeking in all the time. I have no idea.

I have a pip, I have a pip, I have a pip

One zipping and four pips! I hear chirps and scratching noises. Here's a question for you all... the one chick who zipped turned his head away from where he had zipped and his beak is turned in the opposite direction. Also, I noticed some green goo, what the heck. Any guesses on the green goo?

Loopy, congrats! This is going to be a long couple of days. Think I need a beer already... LOL

Right there with ya! This thing is being totally weird on me. Has anyone else ever heard of a Call duck egg being totally dark by day 18? All the other threads I've found on the topic say there should still be some empty space in there.

I dunno Compton. Normally there's some green/black gunk left in the shell when they hatch, but its normally at the other end. I don't think turning his beak away is an issue as he needs to rotate to zip. I've seen them mess up zipping and have to go all the way around twice, but still be ok.

Gofygure...hang in there...love the 'confused cheeping'.

As for here I have a second pip...wondering whether to stay up an hour or two or go to bed
