Setting eggs today...20th May...anyone else?

Glad I didn't stay up all night waiting...no change here this morning, just still at 2 pips.

Amy: yay on wobbles...so glad there's life in there :)

Gofygure: congrats on the chick, love the eye stripe...

I took my daughter to the bus stop, when I got home 20 minutes later I found this.
The funny thing is it wasn't even pipped when Ieft, so it was one of those zero to zip chicks...
The two pipped ones are still just sat there.

That was quickest zero to hatch I have EVER seen...by the time I'd uploaded the previous photo he was already out...buff orpington chick...

He must have been really eggcited to leave. It was probably getting pretty cluckstrophobic in there. (oh god someone please stop me)

And to think you were feeling grumpy just a few hours ago. :)

I've been up way too early watching these guys. As of a few moments, ago 5 out of 6 are out, and the last is slowly chipping away. The assisted chick is doing as well as I could hope and has been visiting me through the plastic. I think I'm going to salvage my sleep and leave off with a picture of the kids after a hard days work birthing themselves.

Gofygure...congrats on 5 out of 6 being out. Hopefully the slacker will be out when you wake up.

No more hatches yet here, but am now at 5 pips. The buff orp chick has fluffed up already and I so want to touch it - looks super super soft.
Better go set up my brooder...

Loopy12 - Holy cow that is a fast P to Z! I'm curious to know how long you would leave them from pip before you would intervene? The Buffs are one of your fav's aren't they? How's that lonely Mille' doing?

Gofygure - what an awesome rate - 5/6. I hope they thrive for you.

for the chickies still on their way!

6 hatched here, 1 zipping and another pip... off to work I go. I assisted in 2 hatches and the humidity stayed around 65. One chick I assisted isn't doing well. The other is up and running about. They were sticky :-(

Chick #2 just came out - kind of answers your question actually Ashem...it pipped last night at 8pm, and starting zipping this morning around 9am...its taken four and half hours to zip - I was getting very worried about it - that's a long zip time. Pip to starting to zip is about 4-12 hours on average I think. Zipping is typically around an hour or so. He looks exhausted...

I mostly get concerned when they've pipped for 14+ hours without progress, or when the made the hole bigger over a few hours but you still see the beak showing they aren't rotating.

And yeah, I love buff orpington's because they are docile, gentle and loving. This one is already showing that - every time I come near she throws herself across the other eggs willy nilly to get up to the window to me.

So, current count: 2 chicks, 7 pips!! 4 eggs not doing anything (of which 2 I think were gonnas on day18).
