Setting eggs today 4/1/12 Anyone else?

I candled my eggs! I did it super fast though because I was afraid of shrink wrapping the babies! I woke up this morning and the humidity in the incubator had dropped down to 29%!!! I quickly fixed the problem but do you think this will cause the chicks problems when they hatch? Lockdown begins Friday and the humidity messed up this close to lockdown! We had the windows open most of the night last night and it actually got pretty cool so I think the humidity dropped in the outside air. The humidity has been staying around 40-50% with the windows open so I haven't really had to add water at all. Just a tiny bit here and there. The candling went very well! All12 eggs are full of baby chicks and I even saw one moving around a little! The eggs are so full though, I'm sure they can barely move at this point! I'm so excited and I'm hoping this is my best hatch ever!! The most chicks I've ever hatched at one time was 7! I'm hoping to beat that this coming up Monday!! You'd think hatching chicks would get old, but its like Christmas every 21 days!

Agreed!

:( I have an early hatcher. It still has a bit of yolk sac attached, but for a little wet chick is quite lively. I am hoping for the best as I am afraid to open the bator with the other eggs in lockdown. I keep watching it hoping it will dry out completely. I have read you can tie off and cut the remaining yolk sac. Is that true? I know most will say cull, but at this point I have nothing to loose so I am not going to go that way yet.

Cross your fingers for my little baby!

Update: The baby did not survive. I went and checked on it and it was flat out. :(

Out of 18 i only have 3 that are developed, a lot were quitters the first week or so it looks like. I am ditching this rooster from here on. My bator has ran 100-102 consistently and i have been on top of the humidty, so i am blaming the rooster, since i never had this problem before, and this is his first year. I was hoping for A LOT of chicks this year!

Can't wait for the 3! Good luck all!

We are in the same boat. I also have 3 eggs left. 2 light brown unknown ones, and one EE green egg.

The little chick that hatched too soon was so adorable. It was in a light brown egg. It was black with black legs and a white belly, no extra toes, and feathered leg. I have only one black hen, she has a green hue to her feathers and dark legs, more of a slate color. No feathers on her legs. My only feather leg hen is a Buff Brahma. I am assuming the father was my Silkie x RIR cross. I can't wait to see what the others look like. Hopefully they stay in their eggs a bit longer, however, those three eggs were really really rocking tonight.

7 pips! 1 hatched!

And the Broodies!

Millie, Mildred and Bridgette. Bridgette's eggs are due to hatch tomorrow.

My Silkies... These buggers... First, the picture was taken while we were cleaning the coop. My son was in the run (have to crawl through the pen to get there) to keep the other girls out. My husband scraped the pen out and the nest box is right beside the door where he was scraping at. Then I crawled in to lay the fresh shavings down and put the feed/water back in. Then my son had to crawl back through with a 2x3 piece of plywood. They never once moved. They are also stealing the eggs from the nest box beside them. Seriously - going over, picking them up and carrying them to their box.
