Setting eggs today 5-3-12...anyone with me?

So guys I have been candling my eggs and I must say they look beautiful in terms of how they move and the veining....one problem is that the air sac aint that big.....cuz i saw so many examples of how an airsac should be but i dint see anything yet.....anyways I am not going to intervene but i do hope i get a good hatch as the babys are moving like crazy inside.....I have never seen such good movement. So point being it would be a shame if they dint hatch properly.
I must say buying a thermostat and using it has done wonders....like the temp cuts off at 101'F and starts again arnd 98.5.....this is still air one.
The other one with the fan and all that is not so great.
I hope it all works out....To us:)
I hope you get a good hatch. I got 16 out of 30 shipped eggs and an happy about that. Best hatch I have had so far. I did have to help out two because they were totally stuck and give baths to four of the last ones to hatch.
I do intervene if need be. I would not have at least two if I had not. They were alive but couldn't turn to continue hatching. They had zipped about 1/4 around and stuck. I know some say not to and some don't do it. It just depends on how you feel about it.

Happy hatching!

I totally know what you mean.....I think its something to do with this hobby or passion for some of raising chicken....its like motherly or should i say fatherly instincts just come in and we want to do what we can to save the young....I know its a bit extreme but yea.
Apart from that day 20, humidity is not so high as it has been a dry incubation throughout, except for now. I hope it works, as the babys due after a week and so on look amazing, as they constantly move around and are really active. I am waiting for the ones due by day after to hatch so that it can give some sign of relief as I dont want to be hatching them myslf:p

So its start of day 21 and no pips yet from the two eggs that are suppose to hatch today....kinda getting tense now and like really upset....honestly am sick of this....why cant things just turn out well specially cuz how they looked when i candled them the last time....anyways lets hope there is some change when i get back from work.

Sending you some good hatching thoughts Sawinga...I know just how you feel. I had only one hatch last weekend...one out of 14. It was quite depressing. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Thanks, i think the good hatching thoughts worked as keeping the date in mind two eggs were suppose to hatch and guess what, 2 eggs did. I am very pleased as I had done the dry incubation method this time and added water on the 19th day. the humidity only peaked till 60 at the most and i think that was plenty. I came in the morning and two were out of their shell waiting to greet me. The next is now 3 eggs due 3 days later. So lets see what happens with that. I hope the good hatching thoughts remain with me till all eggs are hatched:)

So glad they hatched....hope the others do too! I am just putting another batch of mine on lockdown tonight. I put ten in the incubator and gave two different broody hens a total of five eggs. :)

Oh thats great, I hope they do well....How many babys are u nurturing at the moment? I am also hoping that the 6 eggs underneath the hen also hatch so that I can mix the babys with them. This way it will be easier for them to get along and be all nurtured like mother nature wanted it to be.
I hope we have good hatches when ever we expect eggs to hatch:)

Just thought I would update you guys on the hatch....ml...From the 7 eggs which were suppose to hatch, around 6 eggs managed to do so:)....however out of the 6, one of them has his tendon on his left leg dislocated or something as the leg is flat all the time and turned the wrong way....i have bandaged it and adjusted it to the right position and I hope it works....hes a fighter i must say as the other chicks pick on him alot but he fights back even though he has just one leg to hop with:p.....I hope things turn out fine with the rest of the four due next week. This is my best hatch yet comparing the percentage which hatched.....good luck to you guys too:)

I have been having some hatch today... So far I have had three red shouldered yokohamas hatched out by two different broody hens in the coop. In my incubator I have had 4 FBCM and one Ameracuana/Aracauna cross hatch. I currently have one silkie and one more FBCM that are pipping now. I still have one Cream Legbar and 2 more Marans to pip. It will be a long night I am sure.

I will share some pictures tomorrow.

Update: 3 chicks form 5 eggs. This has come from the hen which went into broody and was sitting on 5 eggs of hers. :) I must say its ml very comforting to see a nice hatch:)....I have 4 more due via incubator in 4-6 days so will update u on that too....wishing us all luck:)
