Well I just looked them up, they are pretty. I have never seen them around here...I am sure I would need to get eggs to hatch them.

Showgirls are super cute...for sure eye candy!
 
I can't believe this! Ok so what i did was get one of my gardening trays that have the dome lid for starting seeds and put a basket in it on top of blocks and water in the bottom of the tray. and a thermometer and humidity guage. and 10 eggs from my flock in the basket. With an office light shining down on it. I was thinking nothing would happen since This is my first attempt and I came online and read about all this high tech stuff as far as the incubators go. Well this morning was day 8, and 9 of the 10 are alive And moving!!! I'm so excited! I really hope they hatch! I'm keeping it at 102 degrees f and humidity at 48-55.

That sounds cool...pictures please! What kind of eggs do you have in there?

I am so excited 9 of the 12 are developing. 3 have a dark mass but no air cell.

However, 2 have the air cell on the small end of the egg. Should I do anything special for them?

Can't figure out how to add a picture from my iPhone does anyone know? My roo is a new Hampshire and hens are RIR and barred rocks and 1 new Hampshire. I'm anxious to see what I get! Wondering if the barred rock and new Hampshire dad will be black or not?

chickengirl: the way I transfer pics from my phone may be the long way, but...

I text the pic to an email rather than a phone number. Then I have the pic on my PC. And can upload it from there.

Disaster!

Power went out because of a storm. I was afraid this would happen. I had thought of getting my portable generator ready just in case, but I just never got around to it. I also thought about getting a battery computer backup, but I never got around to that either.

What I finally ended up doing was getting our car's inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. We use it on trips to use the laptop in the car. I opened the garage door, (you must open the garage door if you ever attempt this) started the car and took the incubator out to the backseat and plugged it in.
The temp dropped to 95 before I thought of this solution. The temp came back up after a while, then after about an hour and a half the power came back on.

Dunno if I saved the eggs or not.
I hope you all are having better luck.
