Setting eggs today 5-3-12...anyone with me?

Well I helped it along and it was still struggling, but it finally managed to free itself from the bulk of the shell. Then I noticed that the umbilical cord was still attached to the shell. It just was still on its side for a long time so I just let it be. For probably 40 minutes or so. Then I went to check and it was trying to move around, dragging that shell. The little thing was just flopping around. I debated and debated and finally just snipped it free from the shell. I was worried about it catching that shell on the other eggs and pulling the cord and its bowels from its body. It calmed right down when I did that and again just rested. It was just up running around and fluffing up. But it does seem different from the ones that hatched yesterday. I guess it must be just flat worn out.

As for the other two, not a lot of progress with them. I am not opening that thing back up for a long time. All the others seem to be doing fine out in the brooder. We are having some really bad weather, with temps down in the low 40's with howling wind and pouring rain. It is chilly in the garage, so they are staying under the heater. All of my older hens and teenagers that are outside are not impressed with this weather either, especially after having days of temps up in the 80's. I have been busy working in the Angry Birds cake I have to deliver tomorrow...so sadly, I can just sit in front of the incubator like I did yesterday.
I had to do that with two of mine in a different hatch. as long as there is not blood showing in the cord I guess it is ok. One of mine was acting like it was hurting it because it just kept crying out so I had to do it.

Our weather here is not nice either. We have had that fluctuating warm then cold weather all spring. I am getting tired of it.

I know I will not be impressed either when it gets to be over a hundred either. LOL But at least our house stay pretty cool then. It is under ground.

I am not looking forward to the 100 degree days either Micki.

Oh...In other good news some of the eggs I won on ebay arrived today...in good shape..no cracks or anything, so they are settling today to go into the incubator next. I also have some FBCM and some showgirl eggs too. :) So who will be with me on another hatch?????

I can't start another hatch until two weeks from now. I have another batch of 11 in my genesis and I am not going to try anymore in the Home Made Job! I have my eye on some though and when I get these next ones done I want to try another hatch. Wish I could join you.

Well this is the end of day 21 day 22 has just begun and still no pips or chicks is there still a chance?

I have heard of them hatching on day 24 but not often or many. I am going to wait one more day. I will be gone all day tomorrow so I would be worrying so much about them. I guess that is just the way it goes sometimes.

YES...don't give up just yet. What temp. have you had it set? I have read that if your temp was a little low it can take quite a bit longer.

It's set at 102 still air style and 70-80% hunidity but temp has fluctuated from 99-103 at times. At lockdown all of them were moving and looked great air sacs were perfect so I'm just going to give them more time I guess. Thanks!

Is anyone else on day 22 and no pips or chicks?!
I am on day 23 today. I will not go any long than 24. I think they are not going to hatch. I got two to hatch on day 19. Mine have always hatched out close. At least with in a day of each other.
I am sorry you didn't get any pips.
