setting eggs today, anyone want to join me??

My other girls are so confused where to lay since Red is on their usual nest. I've tried leaving the eggs on the other nest to clue them in, but they Red gets confused and sits on those instead of hers---bird brain!

Well I candled my eggs today.. I couldn't wait. LOL I have 29 with veins and could even see a few what looked to be heartbeats. Yea!! And 2 that smelled really bad so I threw them out.

I candled mine on day 5. All but 1 EE egg looked great with lots of veining. I couldn't see a thing in the 7 black copper marans eggs. I am planning to wait til tomorrow (day 10) to candle again, if I can stand to wait that long!

LillyD this is day 5 for me. My call eggs are very easy to see threw so that helps out alot. I will wait to candle again towards day 10. I have 1 egg I am unsure on so will need to check it again for veining. I was just getting so impatient so I tried today (day 5) instead of waiting til day 7.

It is so hard waiting but I am so glad to finally see something. I am going to be a nervous wreck when they start hatching!! I just hope I get it right they say call ducks are hard to hatch.

what can I use to candle the darker eggs like marans and darker EE's? Can't see anything?

I am using a 120 lumens tactical flashlight, but I was not able to see veining on day 5 - probably because the veins are the same color as the shells. I think I'll be able to see shadow in them with this flashlight as the chicks get more developed.

I read in a post a remington blood tracking light (with red light). I don't know if it would work someone said they use it for brown eggs. I just read it today.

Day 5 for me. I attempted to candle but don't really know what I am looking for.......and I didn't see anything. I did, however, think that I saw a bacteria line in one of them.....must not be viable. I didn't have anything with me to mark it. Will check again in a few days just to see if anything has changed.

In the mean time, I will twiddle my thumbs
