Wouldn't be fair for me not to update...I have a Brahma chick!! I noticed the pip about an hour ago and he was really aggressive about getting out. So exciting since I got nothing from my last batch.
To recap, I started with all shipped eggs - 18 guinea eggs, 12 brahmas, and 12 black copper marans. I candled all on Sunday (day 18) and pitched many, but not bad for shipped eggs. I still had 9 guinea eggs, 2 brahmas, and 6 marans. Yes, my awesome little flashlight could see through the maran eggs. One brahma hatched this morning, and I think the other is no good, but I kept it because I wasn't positive. Yippee!!!
Got to go get the brooder ready.
They were split between my LG and my
Brinsea Octagon 20 and honestly they both seemed about even as far as what developed. The
Brinsea kept a very constant humidity, and the LG dried up often. I didn't measure humidity in my LG, but I'm guessing it hovered at 15-20 if that. The
Brinsea stayed at about 35% the whole time with little intervention.
I have the guinea eggs in my LG and am hatching in the
brinsea. I'll move the guinea eggs over in a couple of days for lockdown.
