Hi Erica,
Today should be day 18 for you, so you should start lockdown in the next 24 hrs. Just up your humidity a bit, then sit back and wait (impatiently).

My humidity is being difficult, I added sponges and it went up to 50%, not quite high enough, so I added a wet paper towel for more moisture and then it went up to 75%. To much. I want it at 60%. I will try and tweak it a bit more today and see if I can get it where I want it.

Mskitty, I am wishing I had a broody instead of an incubator right now. Broodies are definitely the low stress way to go. I love my broody, I sleep much better knowing she is on the job.

Now, to keep myself from spending all night outside her cage tonight....

Oh geez! You guys are going to be all finished by the time I even lock down!! I have guinea eggs so I think I lock down towards the end of the week at day 23 (April 14 was day 1).

On the humidity, I have found microfiber to be the best for a slow release of moisture. I happen to have microfiber cloth diaper inserts and it is working fantastically for consistent humidity! I think I will add a second one during lockdown. I haven't candled for awhile, but nothing is weeping or smelly. Maybe I'll pull one out and take a peek.

Oh! I candled! I know for sure I have 4 with movement. Most others look empty except a yolk. One looks like it has development, but is much smaller. One of the ones with movement is a much smaller egg. Will it develop normally? Whew! At least I won't have tons of guineas everywhere, but I may have to pick up a some keets to bring the total up to 8 (I have 2 keets in the brooder). It's so exciting. Now hopefully I won't have screwed up the hatch by opening the bator 4 times because I didn't want to take them all at once.

3 of the 11 are out! 2 are still pipping. 6 are still cooking! I'm gonna try to post a photo so hopefully you can see the new little fuzzy butts! Mama is so good! She has never once tried to peck me and though she didn't like it, she tolerated me moving her to see the third one! 2 are blondes and 1 is a black something or other! With 7 different types of ladies and 4 types of guys...who knows what we will end up with but one thing is definite...they will be soooooo cute!!!!!!
