Setting Eggs Today? I am, hatch with me?

I took pics of the first two to hatch. The first is a little silkie who arrived about 630pm.

OOPS!! I wasn't done yet, I want to add a couple of pics!

Momsflock, I am keeping my humidity at 65%, which is what extension service literature recommends. 70% was to high for me... you will have to experiment with your incubator in climate to find the perfect setting for you. I tried 70 at first, some people in my region use that, but my chicks seemed to wet, some had wet sounding lungs...so now I am down to 65% and things seem better. Good luck.

its kind of kool to see everything that happens in their plus I think is going to be easy to cleanning it sence the bottom is where the water goes. the ibcubator is called - electrical thermostat incbator- that is al it says on the box and instruction book, i think is inported from Europe, i got it from a breeder here in central Florida

okay I will not turn them.... but they are tlited on their side in an egg carton. Should I take them out and lay the flat or should I leave them in the carton?

That's a matter of personal preference.

Myself, I prefer to hatch the way God made them to, on their side.

But there are many people here on BYC who swear by hatching in cartons, it is supposed to be less messy. I think the Brinsea hatches with the eggs upright (don't quote me on that just what I think I have seen in pics). There are many ways to do things, often things aren't right or wrong, just different.

Good Morning all,

Thunderstorms woke me up early, I wasn't supposed to get up for another 30 minutes, but since I am up, 9 out of my 12 have hatched perfectly. I opened the incubator for the first time to scoop out the shells, so I could see the other 3 eggs. I candled them really quick. Heard peeping from one so I put it right back. No movement from the other two. One hadn't even pipped internally,so I just put it back, maybe he is resting, I will check again later. The other one I could see the beak in the air cell, it had pipped internally, but wasn't moving. So I opened the air cell end and it gave me a very weak peep, it may be shrink wrapped.

When I went into lockdown I acidently dropped one egg from only an inch above the others, and cracked two shells. I waxed the cracks and hoped for the best, well this is one of my cracked eggs, the other hatched last night. I don't know if that is the cause or not. The other one with no internal pip has a huge air cell. So I don't know....

Here are the latest additions, guess I need to go set y brooder up!

How is everyone else doing? How's it going?

Day 20 and nothing yet.

I woke up this morning and my temp was at 102! Got it down to 100 by cracking the bator, went to the store to come home to 16% humidity and 102 temp!!! AHHHH! I will be praying and pacing all day!

When I get a pip, the whole world will know!
