setting eggs tomorrow.... 3-21-12 who wants to join?

congrats on your babies........:thumbsup ...........i would let them eggs for another day or two, just to be on the safe side.........about the chicks everyone has their different opinions.......what i do  and Again!!! WHAT I DO.......not talking about anyone.....i let the chicks to dry up and then quickly move them to the brooder.......some folk say let them there until all eggs hatch but they will be rolling over the eggs as they walk around the bator......then again ....it's my opinion..........:idunno ......congrats

Thanks.

I was thinking the exact same way as you but this is only my 2nd time incubating. I was going to quickly remove them (would take less than 60 seconds) and leave the unhatched eggs in to continue to incubate. And they were doing exactly as you said, they were walking and rolling over on the eggs and I didn't like seeing that. And today will be Day 2 for some of them. All of them were dry this morning but I'm not sure if I will have more hatches.

Glad that I'm not alone in my thinking of quickly removing from the incubator and allowing the rest to hatch. ;)

Thanks for your input.

Congrats on the hatch. :weee

good morning people...........ok i just went outside to my fridgebator and found another 4 chicks hatched.....this is due date (day 21) and i have still another 19 eggs to go.....hopefully all hatch.....here some more pics.......:weee

Im not sure my chicks will hatch. Im trying really really hard not to be excited because what if they dont hatch, or what if only 1 does.

That's a lot of chicks!!

Love the marans chicks! I agree with RGV- I always take them out once fluffed. The mini advance is so tiny that I feel like they abuse the hatching chicks more than needs be.

I went to the school this morning, and it turns out there's only TWO out. They're both ameraucanas, but I can tell they're mixed. I know one has pink toes, and it looks like one has a single comb.

The remaining four are all pipped. I am worried about the two BCM since they've both been pipped for an awful long time now. I could see all four beaks moving, and they all *seem* to be ok. I could also hear a LOT of cheeping coming from the incubator after I took the two chicks out.

I have my eggs in an egg carton so I can not tell if there is any movement. I do not hear chirping or any thing. And as far as I can tell none of them have pipped!

I am using a homemade still air styrofoam incubator. I put them into lockdown a day early

and was wondering if that mattered.

Should I open it up and feel for movement or try to candle one of them to check?

Please, someone advise me on what I should do.
