Setting eggs tomorrow, anyone want to join?

Woke up at 4 am to 3 more chicks! 10 out of 10 hatched!!! My 3 EE eggs are solid yellow chicks, my 3 Polish are dark brown and none picked up the crested gene, oh well it will be interesting to see what color they feather out to be! My buff orpington eggs all had yellow chicks too. But my head roo is a RIR so there is a good chance each of these will feather out with some unusual colors. So I have 7 yellow chicks, all different shades and 3 brown chicks. I will post pictures as soon as the last 3 get dry and head to the brooder.

That is great!! Enjoy your new babies

Blzzrdqueen,

I am so sorry for the babies you lost. That is the thing that I have a hard time dealing with. Especially when you try to do everything right to make sure they have a good chance. But we give them the best chance we can. After that is out of our hands.

An update on my hatch: The pip at the wrong end is now hatched. The one that pipped yesterday at 9am is zipping

Here is my motley crew. You can see all except #10 is at the very top of the picture and all you see is feet...lol The 3 dark ones are from my Polish

Wow! 100%!!!! Kind of makes you feel like filling the bator tomorrow doesn't it?

Lockdown for my new batch of eggs is on the 9th...so 8 days possibly til hatch...It's taking so long...especially when you guys already have your chicks hatching. We would have been on schedule, if only my first set eggs had actually been fertile...sucks.
A least these are fertile! I think I have 18 or 19 still going...can't remember if it was 5 or 6 lost early on...3 were infertile and 2 or 3 had blood rings. I would have to count to be sure...anyway I'm pretty excited. Everything in the remaining eggs looks good including the fact that I can actually now see them moving about. It's pretty neat. My daughter is missing it though. She is my candling buddy, and the only person that seems as interested in the process as I am, but she's with her dad for spring break. She'll be back this weekend though so she won't miss them hatching...or she might if it happens while she is at school. Either way I'm sure she'll be happy to see the chicks...at least she gets to skip some of the waiting...

Congrats! They're adorable. Those darker "yellow" ones look more orangey to me. :) They're precious, and I'm super jealous that you got a 100% hatch. :)
My guineas went in the bator last night, I sure hope these next 28 days go by as fast as the past 21! :)

I have guineas but only one female and 4 males. My other 3 females went to roost in the trees a couple nights and were killed. I am waiting for her to start laying so I can hatch a batch.
Last chicken hatch I had 11 out of 12 hatch, out of those 11, 6 of them were roos. My poor hens were run ragged. So we butchered 4 of them and left 2, now these 2 guys are becoming rooster R**ist....lol So 2 more to go to the freezer. This is the only part of hatching that I dont like.

I know how you feel. A few years ago I hatched 10 of 24 shipped Easter Egger eggs, and out of the 10, 7 were roos. Last year, of the 50 or so eggs I tried to hatch, I ended up with 3 hens. Interesting. Last year was a BAD hatch year for me... So I'm really hoping that this year is better.

This is one of the 3 from my white crested blue Polish. The wings are tipped in a very pale yellow, the chest is a pretty silvery color and he has dark orange on the face, all 3 of them do. My main rooster is a RIR, so I guess this is a Polish Rhode Island.....lol
