setting eggs tonight!! anyone else?

LaynaDon, Yes, I've lived off those candling pictures from the Learning Center. I've also looked up tons of pictures and videos on the internet and YouTube. It's just really hard to tell with my own little brown eggs. Once I get a second opinion, I will remove them. So far, there isn't any bad smell so they'll be fine for a few more days.

I might still do a serious candling session tonight, but I don't want to jeopardize any developing eggs. I have the questionable eggs seperated...and I know their #'s (with notes). I'm also scared to see something unusual in the good eggs and end up not hatching anything.

I wish I could watch for movement. Does the candling light hurt the chick? I don't candle each egg very long because I'm afraid the light might feel too hot or burn them.

i have a mini mag with led lights and as long as the light doesnt put of any heat you should be fine but the less time spent candling the better. with my first hatch i was candling at least every other day lol. with these last 2 incubations i have hardly candled at all i'm working on only candling on lockdown day.

Have your hatch rates been better with less candling? I have a bit of a candling, shall I say, addiction? I loooove seeing what's going on. Does it hurt them at all? You should be proud of me, I haven't candled since Thursday. ;) I was gone all day yesterday... That may or may not have contributed.

I'm going off my leghorn eggs at the moment. I can see in most of them but there are a few green ones that are to thick and a few really dark ones I can't see into as well. Most of them I can tell are developing though.

It's hatch day for three of mine and so far it's 8:00 pm and no rocking, peeps or pips. I didn't have much faith in those anyway. I'm giving them til Monday. :\ They were started off in a homemade incubator. It was just an experiment.

~ 4 of my eggs hatched and 2 of the shipped ones (they were to wet)

2nd hatch

~ 12 of my own eggs
~ 7 of which were non fertil or gotten to cold before collection
~ 5 that developed all hatched
