Setting eggs week of 10/1

Havent candled yet.... Im a little behind. Day 7 isnt till Monday. Im excited tho cause all has gone really well with temp/humitity! Im suprised since the incubator im using is ancient... my parents had it when I was a kid... Lol.

My incubator is in a room that stays around 79 degrees. I am not able to take out any water because there are so many eggs in incubator with the turner. I am not sure what I should so it is around 56% I want to atleast keep it around 50

I too am new to this, and am only 11 weeks in. I am so thankful for this website, it helped me to kick the Facebook habit! lol. I had ordered 10 females from Meyer, but a Roo snuck into the box before shipping and so now I have 10 lovely pullets and one emerging Columbian Wyandotte Roo who can stay as long as he stays polite. With his precense, I now find myself fascinated with reading and following everyone who now hatches! I won't even think about doing such a thing until next year, if even, so I am going to follow along with you all and watch if that is ok. Good luck with all your hatches, and thanks for letting me tag along!
Can you post some pics of your hens and Rocky?
Good Luck all!

Ok that is a good idea I didn't think of that I will try that. I hope that since it has been at 60% for like three days it won't effect the over all process.

I'm doing a dry hatch and the humidity had dropped to 25. Reading in the learning section about dry hatches I learned to put a teaspoon of water into the incubator when it drops that low. Right now the humidity is up to 29 so that's better than it was. GL to everyone.

My humitity is at 37 % I was worried when I was reasing up on humidity cause I knew mothing about how that effected the eggs. Years ago when my parents hatched some they never had anything that measured humidity, just the temp... Mom told me just keep a dish of water in there lol. They always had good hatches too... I would guess theres a wide range that is ok.

Im putting another batch in this weekend in the other bator.... I think im crazy for chickens! I guess the Barred Rocks can be sexed the first day cause the males n females have different shaped markings on their heads.. Ill be havin fun with that too lol. I still have to get my brooder set up in the basement and the new coop area at the barn... I better get my act together n get busy lol!

Ive had a few sick chickens in my coop since I set my eggs an I didnt wanna put these chicks anywhere near there till I figure out whats going on.... Im a nervous chicken momma I supose.....

I just candled my eggs today and three out of 24 of them i clearly saw chicks moving around a lot and it is only at seven days since i set them. The rest of the eggs I didnt see any dark black spots only a darker yellow blob at the top i am wondering if there are any more good fertile ones besides the three is saw moving?
