Setting on Good Friday

How cool you could see more I've been thinking of buying one I just might now. How stable has your temp been? Last time I quit on the afternoon of the 18th day and they started peeping the next day so this time I'm doing it in the PM of the 17th and if I put them in the morning ie:before noon I count that day as day one but that's me going by my last hatch. Many people count the first day as the day after they set them. Just do it how you think is right don't second guess just do it and keep notes and adjust the next time you do it. My last hatch was great and I left the first ones in there for 36 hours before I took them out there was only one left that hatched and it was pipped and almost all the way zipped and then I needed to help it get out because when I opened up the incubator it dried up too much.... so be careful when you decide to remove the chicks as it does lower the humidity no matter what you do....Good Luck I think hatching is a lot of fun.

The mini mag lite was well worth it for us it was so much easier to hold the egg and slide the light around the egg, never expected to see what we did. As far as consistant temp. I have 3 thermometers in each incubator and all three read different so I'm guessing somewhere fromm 99 to 100 degrees. I guess I'll go the full 18 days and then lock them down, I can already see that when that time comes I am going to need some sponges in the bottom to get the humidity up to 60-65. Thanks for the info.

I am out. I had a power outage and all of my eggs stopped developing or so I thought. I re-checked all of them but evidentally I missed one and I opened all of them to see when they stopped and the very last one had a live chick in it and I feel so horrible. But was a learning experience I guess.

and with only a week to go!. It makes 21 days seem like a long time.

Now you are making me think about getting a battery backup so that if the power were to go out, they'd keep going until I could hook them up in the car.

Aww I am so sorry

I'm so sorry about your hatch. And I feel your pain. I had a huuuuuge temp spike and checked last night and all 47 were dead. They were all fine a couple of days ago:hit

I have re set my incubator and for the sake of consistency and ease, I put my incubator on a power bar that controls power surges (we're in a rather unpredictable area) and I put them in the bottom half of egg cartons and made a slanted support so I just have to turn the carton each time instead of every egg. I don't know why I didn't do that sooner...
So I'm out too. Good luck to the rest of you.
