Yes he had the puffed cheeks he was a brauma mix. But tg i have 15 healthy ones left and 50 more in bator . I just hate for any animal to suffer and to die.
On a happier note how is everyones hatch going?

It seems so crowded in there. One is my friend's mystery egg. She didn't know who laid it. She has lots of breeds that free range together. Mystery solved on hatch day....It's an ugly turken

with a face only it's mommy could love

Only 12 left to hatch or not. Fingers crossed on my own two bantams

I still have only 4 but have a few more pips. The first chick that hatched seems to be somewhat of a bully....can it even show up that soon? It happened to be near one of the other chicks and kept pecking it, making the other chick cry and try to get away.

Yea i had one pecking at the others eyes he seems to have mellowed out some now that they are under the red light and have food and water. I moved the hen and her 2 chicks i kept them in the coop but put them in one of those large metal dog crates that has chicken wire around it. I put a box in and lots and lots of bedding and water and chick start with a heat lamp above them.she was a pain to move carried on like I was killing her lol. She did move to the box and soon had them tucked under her. Was wondering would she accept any other chicks?

One new baby. He's cheeping to the others to come out and play, but only one other has pipped and there's been no progress on that one for five hours.

It takes sometimes the next day after a pip. Chicks are wore out after hatching mine tend to lay around for hours then fluff and start running around. I had eggs that pip and the next morning they are out some take a while. If you have one out and the others are pip i would not worry.

Well, mine hatched early afternoon and they aren't totally fluffy yet. They aren't all that coordinated, either...they look like they are swimming around on top of the other eggs. I hope yours perks up. What is your humidity and temp?

It's my first hatch too. The one that didn't hatch in mine was underdeveloped. It still had yolk and it died. The rest have umbilical cords attached to shells. They fell off within the hour. There bellies look all fat and icky until they dried out. It's been 24 hrs since they hatched and they are still laying around recovering. They are so clumsy. It's like post egg Armageddon in there.

YAY!!! Finally went to bed last night after midnight with one out lookin AWFUL and 5 pips...this am have 4 blck and 2 yellow cute chickies and one more pip!!! Guess the pot doesn't boil when u watch it
