are these the eggs for sale in the egg carton? LOL THis is really confusing me as I can't see supermarket eggs hatching as they are caged with no roosters! I may be totally misunderstanding this thread!!!

Nope you are not misunderstanding anything!! Safeway sells a brand of eggs called "Rock Island Fertile Eggs". Several people on here have hatched some out. Heaven only knows what they are, but at 2.99 per dozen, pretty cheap way to get chicks.

Ok I see...so these fertile eggs were suppose to be sold as "fertile" eggs...I missed your link in the first post! I was thinking you just picked up a dozen eggs from the egg isle at your safeway and stuck them in your incubator to see IF they would hatch!

I have done a lot of things in life that could be labeled "experimental", but randomly setting grocery store eggs is not one of them

Well we pipped the last 6 and 4 were fully formed in the shell and dead, one was a late quitter and one was barely hanging on so it is back in the hatcher. Hopefully it will hatch on it's own.

Tripod is doing fine now actually. I still can't get over the shock of it!!

I am so tripped out. We dont have safeways around here. I wonder if our local stores have fertile eggs? That is so crazy. I cant get over it. Glad tripod is ok. Good luck with them all.

Safeway is also known as Vons, and Pak n Sav, and a few others as well. Maybe you have one of those in your area?
