- Has Embryo + Dark Veins but it is very hard to see

So a possibility of 8 or 9 chicks are good. But it doesn't mean the other's won't hatch. But I don't know.

That's great news!! I'm so happy for you!

I candled mine last night, day 10. All 17 look fantastic! I had 2 questionable ones from my first candling session, but they ended up being okay! :)

MyNameIs86...

That's good most of your eggs are looking good! Just keep it in there a little while longer. There is still hope! :) Just wait and see what it looks like during your next candling.

You will see less and less as your babies grow. The best you will see is around days 9-11 after that it is really dark in there and dont see anything except for some movement. I too am a newbie at this but when i get into something i go head first! I do tons of research and there is even a thread on here with a day by day chart of candling. I will see if i can attach it here some how.

I am going to candle again tonight to make sure that the ones i kept on day 7 are really keepers and then i will have to wait til lockdown! I dont know if i will be able to wait that long but it is best for the babies. I will be checking for movement on day 18 and make sure i dont have any late quitters.

Have you been checking/candling your eggs daily?

Maybe this will work

i have been checking them daily...
This is my first time hatching so i'm not sure what to do when it comes to lock down.

i have spotted embryos which are moving a lot.
i wish i had a better flashlight then a maglite... i am not a costco member so i can't shop there. :(.
I have brown eggs (RIR) so it's a bit harder to look through then white eggs. but i know it should look the same.

I have been candling my green eggs about every other day. I have two that look to be way ahead of the rest, like could hatch very soon say in 5 or 6 days if that. I bought all, but 3 eggs at the auction and the two I am talking about are from there. What can I do so they will hatch(if they are) and not hurt the rest. I only have one incubator. I don't see any movement int he eggs but the size of the dark spot is getting bigger. taking a pic would be to hard with a green egg.

I think my brown egg quit around day 6 or 7. The white egg has an embryo. Pretty easy to see it moving around in there. It's amazing! Anyway... guess the brown one goes in the trash. No air sac or anything in it. White egg has air sac developing. Kinda bummed about the dead egg but really excited about the live egg!
