When did you set your eggs?

woke up to 4 chicks! and a couple more are zipping and i got more pips during the night!! so cute! so far they all look the same, which i kinda figured they would. dark grey with white on their wing tips and white chest. i will post pics when its all over.

Urgh today my bator is only running between 96 and 98 degrees. The temp in the house is actually hotter then it has been the past few days. The forces are really working against me aren't they LOL.

Hopefully they start doing something, I'm starting to get super worried.

So I think I went into lockdown a day early, but I also think that was for the best. Here is why, I took the eggs out of the auto turner, put them in cut down egg cartons, then put those cartons into boxes with the bottoms and tops cut out, so I know which babies are which. I have 8 shipped eggs and 5 of my own set to hatch on Sat. So those two are apart, then I have an additional 2 that are to hatch 3 days later, then 2 set to hatch 3 days after that. Thought the boxes would help, but knew it would throw my temps off.

Sure enough at 8 pm temps were at 93, at 9 pm still 93, kept turning it up a little each hour, yes I woke up every hour on the hour and checked the temp. Then at my 3 AM check it was still at 93, I suddenly realized I should check the aquarium thermometer that I always throw in as backup and it said 103!!!!! So then I adjusted down and checked at 4, 5, 6 and then on my way out the door and I had it at an even 100 (still air). I hope I did not do to much damage

However, I kept opening the lid to adjust things trying to get them just right, so my real lockdown will start tonight. I am so tired!!!!!

On a side note 13 of the original 14 went into lockdown

OOo. I started my lockdown yesterday. Unfortunately nothing has happened yet although one egg had decided to roll over or perhaps that was from the vibration of the floor when we walk. lol
Anyway, i had the weirdest dream yesterday. I dreamt that some of the eggs were hatching, one chicke was already out and 2 more were zipping their way out. So my dad comes in with a chisel...eeek and starts chisling the chicks out when I go balistic on him telling him that they need come out on their own.... then i woke up.

I had peepers while I was locking down last night. For some reason, my chicks hatch on day 19/20 - even LF!. We are on day 18 yet and I have 2 pips in eggs from my own LF Ameraucanas. I am so thrilled - this is my first time hatching my own eggs!
