5 pips today. Still one day to go before official hatching day. I'm pretty sure one won't hatch, so I'm figuring 5 or 6 out of 7. Not too shabby.

1 zipped and 1 pipped...I am leaving for NYC tomorrow for the weekend...I know, I know!

great planning but my DH will be here and is on chick duties all weekend...but they are not all going to hatch before I go...

One is a splash!!!

you know we all love them! And one has a very vaulted head...is that good?

4 blue and one spalsh so far...if I set them on Friday 9/16/11 does that mean (tomorrow) Friday is day 21? or today?

So after my 5 chicks have hatched...one pipped at the same time as the others but after 27 hrs had done nothing...I was convinced that something was wrong, that my hygrometer was off, that I had shrink wrapped them or something...

I was worried and couldn't stay away from the bator...but I did and so now she has decided to start to zip and fast..I am so relieved, I can't tell you how much!

So now I am waiting to see her pop out...i am still waiting for the other 10 eggs to do something...

Four chicks now! 3 in the brooder and 1 staying the night in the incubator.

2 pips. One egg I think is a dud.

Not bad for a 7 egg incubator.

Looking at my chicks, the three in the brooder are from brown eggs. I have three roosters: 1 BR, 1 CM and 1 copper-blue EE. Two of the chicks are black and white, but the last is golden with muffs. I suspect my unassuming EE roo has slipped by the other two roos and managed to breed the buff orpington.
