...I do have 6 wonderful chicks but my other 9 did not make it...
I opened some and they were fully formed but had not absorbed the yok and the inside was very wet, a big air cell but they had not broken through it and one pipped but the hole dried...
I do not know what happened to my humidity?
I thought i was being careful but i had bought a new therm/hygrometer and followed that blindly without calibrating it first
...I think I 'drowned' them in the lockdown? is that possible?
I am trying to be happy about my 6 chicks but I am very sad as this is my first time that I have not gotten almost 100% hatch... I can't help but feel terrible...when I opened them up there they were, beautiful fully formed chicks...

I'm sorry for your losses. I know how sad it is. My first attempt with eggs didn't go well. They weren't very fresh eggs with large air sacs that were handled roughly in the mail and detached, most didn't develop or stopped shortly after. I had one little champ make it all the way to the end, I thought I was gonna get one baby, he pipped, zipped half way then dried out and died. I wish I had known in time to help him. My humidity I thought was good too. I never really was sure what went wrong, but the next time I went into lockdown, all 4 that developed full term hatched. I know how hard it is to see those fully developed babies dead in the egg, but it's great you have some healthy chicks! May next time your hatches go even better!
As of this morning, I am at about 25% hatched. I have 6 in the brooder and doing well. I had one that zipped, but never left the shell. It looked very big for the shell it was in, maybe humudity or just too big. Not sure why it could not just stand up. The egg right next to it hatched about the same time with no issues. I was at work, so I missed the chance to help out.
All the eggs that have hatched at this point were in cartons. I have about 17 more eggs left, a couple with pips. I hope to make it to 50%, but I am not sure. This was my first attempt, so I am proud of whatever I get.
I have hatched so far: 2 Sumatras, 2 Blue Andalusians, 1 Bantam Cochin, 1 Jersey Giant (maybe mixed).
