Jopefully I will have 9 new lavender orp's running around

TinyChickenLady-In my Brinsea Mini Advanced I have: 3 Lav Silkies, 3 Bantam Polish, and 1 Black Sumatra. In my Sportsman I have: 1-2 Lav Orps, 1 Coro Sussex, and then 6 other surprise eggs that I don't know what are. I also have 3 Serama eggs from my flock in there, and then Monday I set 8 of my Guinea eggs. I just got "August Mystery Egg Swap" eggs in the mail this morning. I'll be setting those tonight.

crazyeggs-Oh!!! So egg-cited for you! I've really, really wanted Lav orp for a long, long time!!

Good point. If you think some are chilled then remove them. But also, have you candled them yet? You might end up removing a few anyway due to loss of embryo or infertility and then she can just finish with the rest.

I'm with you on that and I appreciate your input and knowledge but they're just too dark to candle.

Candled the eggs and this is what I got... out of 57 eggs I got 31 developing nicely.

26 that are not

Some were really dark and could not see anything but a large mass so I didn't know what was going on in those. I put the good eggs on top and the not sure eggs on the bottom just in case something happens.

Some just looked like an egg with a yolk... should I just toss those really? Nothing, no blood of any kind and still very wiggly, sloshy looking.

One was really moving around in there, that was kinda neat to see

soon... 14 days to go

Oh yeah this is what I think I got so far

) 10 EE (6 pos brown egg layers and 2 white egg layers) 8 NH or pos crossed with a red shouldered yokahomas (the neighbor gave me these and they were free ranging so we will see) 5 Blue Barred Rocks, 3 NHxRIR (production reds?) 2 cuckoo marans x lavender Americana (olive eggers) and 1 unknown olive egger. ALL will be pullets right?????

This is so exciting

Good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!

I cant wait to start seeing all the hatched eggs. I think it will help me cause I still have 11 more days until I see any of mine hatch (unless some come early)

So make sure to post pics of the new additions so everyone can see, and for the people that are still waiting for theirs can have something to look at and motivate them.

Haha oh I will definately be posting pics

And I honestly have no idea what I'm hatching. I got a surprise
bunch from across the road. There's two roosters (D'Uccle and a handsome mystery guy) mating with RIR's and a Delaware and Americaunas and some mystery white ladies that I'm still trying to figure out so I could honestly get ANYTHING from them. My last 2 were Red Sexlink and Black sexlink (I think, link LoL)
Good luck everyone!!

Been a while since I have posted. Glad to see most are doing well with their 'on the way' babies. After candling my 2 batches of eggs that were shipped only about half fertile/developing.. Soo, maybe 20ish. But, we lost power for 2 days during Irene, and I tried to keep the temp with candles while it was out. At one point the temp had dropped down to 80* and then got up to 102*. Kinda scared that mayv'e messed up my hatch.

We will see.. 7 days left..

happytraylz - I've heard shipped eggs have a low fertility but I think you kept the temps in the right range so you might have saved them
