Heard bad things about shipped eggs. Not all true. I received 12 from fancy feathers , half way across the country in cold weather. 10 of the 12 hatched. I would do it again in a heart beat....good luck everyone

Sounds like you are doing well!! You will have a great hatch..how many in lock down?

I see someone answered the question about the eggs. thanks I did not catch that earlier.
I'll still add my two cents worth. I let them set to allow the air to settle in the tops with the large ends up in the cartons. Also if there are microscopic cracks in the eggs they will leak some overnite and you can find them.
If I am saving eggs myself, I save eggs in a cool room about 60ish in a carton large ends up. I tilt that carton from end to end each day to prevent the eggs from sticking to the sides until hatching time. Try to save no more than two weeks in a row. The livability of the embryos go way down as time goes by.

I just noticed that one of the little chicks has not completly absorbed it's egg sack.
It is running around and eating/drinking and acting normal. Will this last little bit absorb
or will it dry up and fall away?

It was probably me. So let me get this straight:

You can have fertilized eggs stored in an egg carton, in a cool room, large ends up, for up to 2 weeks max and they could still be fine?

I am buying my eggs locally so should I still let them set for 24 hours or put them into the incubator right away?

I had a chick like that too. It dried up and fell off. The chick is doing great. How many chicks have hatched now?

Lockdown is exciting.....hoping you see wobbling eggs and then lots of pips in a day or two.
